Odom at VCU is probably the top mid-major coach. He was the coach at UMBC when they beat Virginia as a 16-seed. He left UMBC and went to the tournament with Utah State, and now at VCU, he has them atop the Atlantic 10 in year 2.
Bucky McMillan at Samford. Plays fast paced which is fun to watch. Should have upset Kansas in the tourney last year as a #13 seed.
Ben McCollum at Drake. Has 4 DII titles. First year in DI will probably win the conference.
Bryan Hodgson at Arky State is intriguing. Nate Oats coaching tree, which may intrigue a potential suitor. Has Arky State tied for first in the sunbelt in year two. Looks like a douchebag, though. That could hurt his chances.
I'm sure some other names could emerge with some NCAAT runs.

Really not sure if I trust SW to make a good basketball hire. His hire Buzz Williams is starting to do well at aTm but it took him four years to make it to NCAA tourney.

Whoever it is please let it be someone with a little bit of personality that’s portrays some fricking confidence unlike the loser we currently have.

Call Kim Mulkey, and make her say no

Our next coach needs to specialize in identifying undervalued raw talent and player development. LSU basketball will never have financial resources compared to most of the SEC. We also need a coach, like Will Wade, that gives LSU basketball an identity.

Nikki Fargas, who according to Dawn Staley just needs fan support to be successful.

This is true which is why Woodward is a fat retard for running of a coach who finally had us consistently good and seemed content being here
Can’t believe Woodward ran him off for no reason at all. Just because he wanted to. No other possible reason. All Woodward’s fault.

Will Wade
Doubt he’d come back even if Woodward swallowed his pride and made him an offer, .
No doubt that Wade is the only coach who would inject energy into the program , season ticket sales would probably soar.

Mid-major hiring is always a crapshoot. LSU gets McMahon, and Florida gets Golden. Compare their resumes.
I do think tournament success should factor into a hiring decision, though. Many successful mid-major programs spend way more on their programs than their peers, so winning the league most years doesn't impress me as much as going toe to toe with the big boys and proving you belong. An NCAAT run can't be everything, but it has got to mean something.

I have said this many times on here. Get the guy from High Point, Huss. He took a total wreck of a program that Tubby Smith’s son coached and has already won the conference title. He was also the too assistant at Creighton.

Are these real people? I don't follow college basketball enough to know.

He’s my favorite of that list. But he’s risky because of his lack of high lvl head coaching experience. It’s one thing to recruit players to beat radford. It’s another thing completely to recruit players to compete in the best conference in college basketball.

McMillan is interesting. I want to do a Lester Earl-esque deep dive on him over the weekend.

I would at least get in touch with Billy Donovan’s agent and see if Billy would be interested in coming back to college.

I'd love to see Coach Jones return to LSU.
