as an LSU fan, I'd say we have one of the worst fan bases when it comes to supporting our players and coaches. Lots of examples, but perfect one is the Arky game last year. Getting drunk and tailgating doesn't constitute good fans...

South Carolina.... To have the fan support of the likes of lsu alabama and Florida with the team of a ole miss callibur must require some serious fandom

This is really a good thread. I have lived and travel throughout the United States and I offer the following.Although I am a huge LSU fan I will not be biased here:
Big Ten: Ohio State "Go Bucks!"
If you spend time in Ohio this is the battle cry.
Big East: West Virginia. You have to admit burning couches gets your attention.
Big 12: Texas. Ok I live in Texas and I realize that Oklahoma and Nebraska each have huge fan bases. My son in law is an Aggie alum, but you have to admit it really is the Big 12 (now 9) and Texas.
ACC: This is hard because I could not care less about this conference. But I would say Florida State fans have a slight lead. I admit I have never met a Clemson fan who was not somewhat deranged. But I feel insulted they would have the nerve to name their stadium death Valley. Admit it there real is only one Death Valley and it is not in So tha (I spelled it right) Carolina.
Pac 10: I lived in Bakersfield for a view years and believe it or not UCLA have huge fans but I think they come in second to the Men of Troy.
SEC: I hate to admit this. I mean I really do. But the biggest fans are white trash from East Tennessee where the men are fat and white and their wife are barefoot and pregnant.
So who do I feel has the best fans. Well that one is actually pretty easy. Just add up the most sales of logo apparel, jerseys and tattoos.You will find more people are saying "Hook Em" than anyone else.

Have to say Penn St. fans were pretty nice I was still numb after a time management disaster ( but luckily I was already a seasoned veteran by then)again. We were in the Penn St. tail gate city and didn't catch to much shite even after we lost!!

I agree that PSU has great fans, but basing them off of a rare bowl matchup doesn't tell much. You gotta believe that if Penn State had just beaten a rival like Michigan or Ohio State they would be giving them crap after the game.

As much as I hate to admit it, I will have to go with Nebraska fans. Very classy, very humble, very knowledgeable, heart will always say LSU though.

Question was best, not most fans.
I thought the Texas fans were great at the BCS game, ton of them there, stayed till the end, still packed after the game as they sang "Eyes of Texas" which was cool.
I was also shocked how nice the UGA and Bama fans were when I went to both of their schools last fall for LSU games. No problems with anyone.
Also have heard nothing but positive stuff about Nebraska fans. Saw them play last year up at vt, they were great. All the virginia tech fans were talking about how great their trip to Lincoln the year before was. I've been to every ACC stadium, and I'll go with Clemson there. Working on SEC stadiums now (5/12 so far, plan on adding 4 more this season, hopefully get to Vandy, Miss St, and Arkansas next season). Ohio State fans are douchebags. Wisconsin sucks too, I've only been to those two schools in the Big 10/11/12 and I was very dissapointed, and I don't expect much from Penn State either, though I had no negative experiences at the Cap One Bowl with them (other than growing tired of hearing their zombie nation song). Plus the vid of them sucker punching that one osu fan is stuck in my mind, though I know it was only one small group of fans.
All that being said, I'd go with Nebraska. I love checking out new stadiums, and I really want to get to every SEC stadium, but as far as the Big XII, I really just care about getting to Lincoln, Texas, and A&M.
