Should never have any concerns about our offensive scheme. The only question is going to be execution from the players. That’s a perfect upgrade to know the offensive staff will consistently put the players in the right position to make plays. Now it’s just up to the players.

It’s insane that a year ago a large portion of this board would have rather had BK than Kiffin.

I just tried to listen and holy shite the production/audio is awful. Has it been like this all week?

Scoring 13 points against Western Kentucky certainly changes the hearts of fans.

You hardly ever see a position coach take a OC job in the sec considering he never was an OC before that!

That’s why I’m really interested in seeing A&M’s first time playcaller… he was also only a WR coach before

I think if you do that, then you need to follow the Joe Brady route with him and the Slinger

Joe Sloan at OC

Brad Davis at OL coach
quote:Dumb. Made no sense.
Robert steeples at cb coach
quote:Was an SEC DC and had a solid first year. Wheels fell off after that.
Matt house at DC
quote:His LSU tenure is sandwiched between a time at UGA as WR coach and Ohio State as WR coach. So he's good enough for the best two programs in the country, but not for LSU.
Cortez hankton at wr coach
Not saying these all worked out, but 4 of the 5 were not guys who had "no business" being coaches at LSU.

Steeples- The same board was happy when BK let Raymond walk and hired Steeples. Many convinced themselves that Raymond wasnt good anymore.
Everyone was pretty underwhelmed hiring a high school football coach for our db coach

Even more didnt play and could see it

BK hired steeples to recruit St.Louis area and get Christian gray, neither of those things happened

With that said, the offense was severely handicapped with an injured QB and a shite OL.
I will grant the QB injury part with Nuss.
However, the OL stinking for the second year in a row is inexcusable. We had two high draft picks at tackle in '24 and couldn't get a push to run the ball. '25 was the worst OL I've seen in all my years of watching LSU, and they really weren't as injured as the '24 squad. That's on the offensive coaching staff, including the OC.

Makes you wonder why Stein is giving playcalling duties to Joe Sloan
Posted on 7/23/26 at 6:06 pm to LSUcajun77
I don’t think the routes would have mattered last season. If we can’t run the ball and protect the QB nothing happens. It’s like trying to drive a car with flat tires. Sure you might move a little but you ain’t going anywhere far.

Pretty limited with a bunch of sub 6’ players too

By the play call before the snap. Do you think all players are giving 100% effort knowing that the play is doomed before even lining up?

Trust me, I'm not excusing him. I'm glad he's gone.

And Kelly as HC was the worst of them all

That BK Playbook. Win the toss, take the ball, go three and out with the same script every game.

So refreshing to hear we’ll see a competent staff and competitive team.
Where have I heard this before?
I will say I feel that this is the first time we will have a cutting edge offense/really creative scheme. Even in 2019, we just had unbelievable talent with Burrow, Chase, JJ, TMJ, CEH, etc. Our play calling wasn't anything crazy creative, but Brady was smart to run the same personnel over and over and that caused fits for even the best of defenses that could 't adjust. Kirby Smart talked about this. That made it really unique.
But this style of offense with a lot of talent should be a major challenge for SEC teams. This is different than how LSU has been for many years minus a couple of years with two of the most phenomenal college QB seasons of all time.
