Responding to a question about his reaction to Chavis' hiring, Ifedi said LSU's defense "didn't do anything spectacular" and "didn't have the greatest players in the world", and that while at LSU, Chavis did "more with less."

That's a misquote to drive more clicks. Here's the full quote:

quote:

"Having played against their defense the last two years and not finding too much success ... you know their defense didn't do anything spectacular, didn't have the greatest players in the world," Ifedi said. "They just always had the right answers for what you were doing.

"When I heard he (Chavis) was coming to A&M I was excited. I said this is a big deal. He's proven he can do more with less and even more with more. He's proven he's a great coordinator over the years and he doesn't need high level players, which now we have high level players on defense. It's almost scary what he's going to be able to do with them."

When he says more with less and more with more, he's referencing Tennessee and LSU's defensive down-years that are still solid D's.

And when he says "Now we have high-level players," he's talking about how aTm typically lacks talent on D, but they're stocking the cupboards with talent now.

Nothing to see here.

How is it a misquote? The full quote that you just posted sounded even more retarded.

That dude has diarrhea of the mouth.

True. If you look at 2013 (AKA the one year that our defense wasn't loaded with talent although there was still a lot of talent to work with) there was a sharp drop off in production

We had less talent on defense the last couple years than we did the immediate years before that (2013-2014 vs. 2011-2012), but it wasn't like it was a whole lot less as we STILL have had 5 defensive players drafted the last 2 drafts. Plenty of NFL talent, just not as crazy as it was a handful of years ago when we had possibly the most talented defense in the nation.

The slight drop in defensive talent could be a lot contributed to Chavis' lack of recruiting. Most of those great defensive players he had back in 2011 landed in his lap when he got here or came in that first year he was here. Then, over the course of several seasons, the defensive talent dropped off some, and we didnt have elite elite defensive talent anymore.

Still kind of ridiculous to think what we had at LB when Chavis left. Dude just couldn't get off his arse and get players.

Wasn't a misquote. It's a misspelling. Chavis "did more with Les!"

It's beginning to look more obvious now that the talent LSU brought helped Chavis more than the other way around. We'll see how things shake out in the fall on the field, but that's what we are seeing so far on the recruiting side of things.

Well LSU fans have sounded like bitter ex's since he left. The attempt to white wash the last 7 years as if Chavis' unit was the reason we did not win more games. Wake up, the D kept us in most games and with any semblance of an offense we would have beaten Bama in its last two trips to BR and could have won on 1/9.
