This is incorrect. The field at Schwab is the exact same as Rosenblatt. The difference is rosenblatt was up on a bluff and its orientation was such that the wind was blowing out mostly so it played smaller.
Schwab is lower elevation, in a downtown area and the wind basically always blows in or across so it knocks balls down.

Depends on the winds of Omaha
LSU would not have won 25 World Series playing gorilla ball

Gorilla ball kills this conversation because it means “a frick ton of HRs” and of course you want that.

But relying on HRs is stressful. I like a team that hits a bunch. Regardless. Lots of hits.

Why not both?

Jay seems to understand this. We play great defense and can move guys on the bases. But we always have at least 2 or 3 guys that can hit it out.

Balance. Worked well this year.

I prefer small ball to gorilla ball, but I prefer something in the middle to either. I think college baseball has it about right at the moment.

Jay talked about the intricacies of winning both in the SEC and Omaha these days.

You have to be able to hit 3 run homeruns in these small SEC ballparks. But you have to be able to go station to station in Omaha. Those SEC teams that can only hit bombs can do well during SEC season but will struggle in Omaha.

Hard as hell to do both but we have the right guy at the helm to work to make that happen. Milam making that transition to get away from the fly balls and just hit line drives paid huge dividends in postseason this year.

I prefer a mix of both but if I had to choose one it would be gorilla ball.

Gorilla ball is more fun to watch for me, but I think small ball is probably more versatile. Sure plays better in Omaha.

Unless the wind is blowing out, lol ??
