Penn State is not comparable. They put out probably 1/2 the amount of NFL players as LSU. They haven't sniffed or been close to a national championship this century. LSU technically should've had 4 just in past 21 years. Penn St hasnt been close to 1.

If you are going Florida I’d say maybe Florida state.

We are both the state school in not the most popular city in the state but in the capitol off of I10.

They have 3 claimed titles, we have 4.

They have 3 heisman winners, we have 3.

Actually after typing that out it’s Florida State.

How can it not be?

Interesting take, is it fair to say us and Nebraska and switched places since 2000?

NC
Nebraska 5
LSU-4

Heisman
Lsu-3
Nebraska-3

LSU rise in football since 2000 is comparable to Miami in the 80’s.
Both have had 3 coaches in a row win titles.

I have always felt that football wise LSU and Georgia were pretty much on par with each other.

What's the story behind why we don't?

You may be onto something here. I didn't really think so initially.

I was thinking Florida as I was reading your question. Our success is above Clempsin & Tenner maybe even with Auburn

Because LSU was accused by Grantland Rice and Tulane of paying players.

These conversations about all time rankings of college programs are why LSU should officially claim 1908. We would be a level higher with 5 ncs.

Maybe Jeff Landry can get on that after he gets Mike back on the field.
