re: Which do you choose. Winning or Integrity?

I understand all people have faults and most people depending on the severity of the mistake deserve second chances. To answer your question I don't believe winning and integrity are mutually exclusive. In fact I believe having integrity in a lot of cases helps a team win.

Yes you're right in that we don't know all the facts, and yes many people are jumping to conclusions, but one thing we know FOR A FACT is players deliberately disobeyed team rules, snuck out to go drinking at a bar (which I feel does NOT warrant a suspension BTW), and were involved in a fight. These things we know for FACT.
Anyone that was involved in that fight, whether provoked or not, would and should be suspended for at least 1 game, whether charges are filed or not. Miles looks at these players as his kids, and they deliberately disobeyed him (Lion King reference), which kids tend to do, but there are consequences for disobeying rules. They should be held accountable for their actions, whether we all agree that these things happen all the time, or whether we've been involved in these same things when we were in college.

Fact: Breaking Curfew + Fighting = Suspension Regardless
The curfew isn't an issue with me ,but from what I have read on here and heard on the talk shows someone should be suspended . LSU will be fine without the 4 players involved in the police investigation. Once the investigation is over any players cleared should be allowed to return .

yep. Easiest and cleanest solution to the problem.

Guilty til proven innocent? Yeah, no agenda with you...

Guilty is a legal concept.
Miles is suspending players for conduct unbecoming the team and team rules violations.

I haven't declare3d their guilt. But they have brought shame on themselves and the team of LSU.

I understand you want JL to start but this is low, even for JL e-knights. Don't you want him to beat out JJ on the practice field, rather than have to hope that our starter gets suspended for allegations that are largely unclear? Pathetic.

Real winning is “Integrity”.
There's not one ounce of "Integrity" at the bottom of a pile of real football, just fingers in your eyes and cleats on your cods.
It's war and you need your weapons.

So I made JJ and the others break curfew, go to a bar, and get into a fight.
All from my office that night, because I was working late? I must have super powers or something.

I have said NOTHING about wanting JL to start. Hell, start Mett, start Ware at qb.
The point is JJ should be benched, not who should play. And that is the point you fail to see.

Right. There is two sides to this. LES and the LAW. Les can ACT before the law does.
Do the right thing Les.

I certainly agree with your post that the "I" should be more important than the "W." But take a pragmatic look at this thought, relative to the life of a major college football coach. The coach knows that while his legacy might be defined by his integrity, there will be no legacy without the "W's." Coaches far too often faced with the dilemma making a "right" or "moral" decision which could sacrafice the success of their team, as well as their personal success. But are we as fans rational enough to understand that the coach's "moral" choice may come at the expense of W's? Recent history has shown that answer to be NO. We want the coach to make the "right" decision AND continue winning. We are quick to forget that sometimes the "right" choice comes at the cost of Winning. Coaches don't forget this however. All coaches understand that in today's society, all the integrity in the world won't bring them back as coach for next season if the W's aren't there as well.
Look at 2008 and 2009. Many fans roasted Miles because of the QB struggles. Some wanted him fired. Yet all agreed that the "right" thing to do was to kick Ryan Perriloux off the team. Miles did the "right" thing to the detriment of his team, but many fans still wanted him gone.
For all accounts, it appeared Sylvester Croom at Mississippi State was a man of integrity. However, where did his integrity land him? Out on his arse because he didn't win.
While it's nice to believe that integrity is the ultimate virtue of a colleg football coach, the reality is the Wins are the only thing that truly matter.

The good news in this case is that you get to win and show integrity. Suspend JJ. Play Lee. Win win. Best of both worlds.

You suggest a 1 game suspension for all that fought.
Is there actually a Team Rule against fighting off campus on your own time?
What if the brawl had happened 10:00am at a Church Revival?
The Rule, what exactly is it besides the curfew?
We must be righteous, just and fair.
How many was it that deliberately disobeyed him?

We have the talent to win without any of them.

I do not understand the relationship between punishment and integrity. How does the school show more integrity by punishing someone (and the team, school and community)than if they do not?
One could argue the R.S. situation was about integrity since it involved benefits, but here we are talking about a fight, a fight, oh and curfew.
Does the school lack integrity when it does not punish other students that get in a fight?
I do not understand the blood lust that some on here have. They seem to think that we are better than if we punish the players, and less thank if we do not.

There are many partial and free rides at LSU and I know for fact that some have fought and went to jail with no penalty whatsoever from LSU.
It's the media attention that forces the hand.
