A good idea to name him that, but how long can a coach wait?

Better figure a way to do it soon if Baker is officially designated as such.

Aranda kept respectability at LSU FB, for an unprofessional HC who totally got exposed at the departure of his competent staff and quarterback. Cajun Curley Hallman comes to mind.

Brian Kelly knows how to run and manage a program, with HONOR. His program will not collapse at the departure of a key assistant.

Brian Kelly is the winningest active Coach currently in college football and you idiots think Blake Baker is a lifeline. I hope you don’t have an LSU degree.

The only real threat this year will likely be Tulane, and I only say that because he’s an alum. Otherwise, he’d be crazy to leave for a G5 job. Those are a much bigger step down than they were 5-7 years ago. Other than Memphis, USF, Tulane, Boise, and couple of others, they are for risers from lower ranks or career rehab like Mullen at UNLV.

Baker likely won’t be targeted by any of the big jobs that come open (Penn St, likely UF, maybe Auburn, OU if the wheels come off), and the smaller P4 jobs open now aren’t that attractive. UCLA, Arkansas, Stanford and VA Tech are open for a reason. Wisconsin may open, but they don’t look even close to the same as 5 years ago in a divisional formal Big 10. Maybe UK, but again, why would anyone want that job when they can be the next Dan Lanning and wait for the big fish to come.

Maybe things get more interesting if Kiffin heads to UF, but does anyone think they would hire a defensive-minded head. Their base is obsessed with offense.

Again, Tulane will be a big threat because Summerall will surely get an appealing offer this year. But they won’t have the money to take our position coaches away. They also won’t be taking any starters away from us if he goes there, but maybe a backup or two.

If Baker does go- Jim Knowles is out there if whoever is hired at Penn State doesn’t make him a priority. He built one hell of a D at OSU and would be walking into a great talent situation.

or possibly Kentucky.

Why in the frick would he want that job? Stoops has more support and money than any UK football coach in history. He absolutely maxed out what’s possible there unless they fundamentally change how football and basketball are treated.

What has he done since NIL, the portal and the dissolution of the SEC division structure? With the new reality of the sport, UK’s obsession with hoops above all, and the current SEC schedule and structure, that job isn’t as good today as it was 5 years ago. They are back to doing well to get to a bowl game.

Get outta here with that. Now, I'm all for LSU devising a plan to keep Baker around to replace Kelly, but the likelihood of that happening is probably less than 50%.

This negative hyperbole is out of control. We are 6 games into the season. Good grief.

I didn't know Baker was such a hot commodity, sounds like the same poster who stated this last year.

he is young, he is stable, he is a players coach. A program will take a flyer on him. UF or AU will interview him. 7-9 million versus 2. He will be gone after this year or next.

He gets paid 2.5 million. Probably doesn’t want to take a pay cut

hopium

Too many jobs are going to be open this year. Sumrall at Tulane def gets a job - which means Baker jumps to Tulane.

We would be incredibly lucky to keep Baker past this year.

Assuming Sumrall leaves Tulane is the only realistic scenario. Is that guaranteed? I don’t think so
