If you want to get shot it's a good place. That's the hood. Try to stay north of I20 and east of 75/85

Looks like the Hyatt will have a nice crew... we have about 8 of us going to be there Friday and Saturday.

I've got white friends that live in College Park and East Point.
I guess it depends on what hotel/motel you're looking at.

Marriott Residence Inn Downtown - easy walk to Dome & several restaurants/bars within 1-2 blocks. Think its booked though.

I'm staying at the Embassy Suites in Buckhead.
It's free, so I can't complain, plus I have friends that live that way as well.

This property is so disappointing to be a Westin. At around $300/night it is reasonable to arrive with some expectations - don't waste your time! My guestroom, 5601, did not look like it had received an update since the 90s. The walls were so paperthin I easily heard the phone conversations and television of the guests on each side. The internet connection, slowwwww, was over $15/day with tax. My check-in took 30 minutes of standing in line while check in computers stood vacant with staff available to stand and make small talk. I will say once I was served, the staff was exceptionally polite and apologetic. Across the hall from my room was some type of work room that the door slammed at all hours of the night and shook my headboard, which was unnerving due to the amount of dust that was on it! The location is convenient to conferences downtown, but so is the Omni and Embassy Suites at a much better price. Westin really needs to look into this property.
Room Tip: Choose a room away from a service access door to cut down on noise.
