Where has that offense been?

We finally have play calling to stretch the field and get athletes in space; see jet sweeps. We finally tried to cater the offense to Jennings' ability to run; see read option instead of just obvious QB draws. We hit screens, check downs, went at the TE, etc.

Have these plays been there all year and just not being called?

Is A&M just so bad on defense we used them as a sort of scrimmage to try out a new offense?

we did some different things, which was encouraging. The reverses were nice. But aTm sucks on D. Real bad.

It took a lot of bad plays and tough losses to get us to that point (i.e., the point of trying new wrinkles in the offense). But at least we got there last night. Hopefully, we'll carry over some of that creativity into next season.

It's not just about their rushing defense, we tried reverses, jet sweeps, new screen passes, targeted TE a few times, etc.

Those are plays we never attempted before. Just curious why we waited.

Yes they suck, but I'm not asking why we had success running up the middle. I know why.

Waiting for a quarterback who can play with competence on a consistent basis. We are still waiting.

I'd like to see a lot more of that offense in the bowl game and next year.

add in Harris to the mix and we could have a really dynamic offense. Even with Jennings it will look much better than anything we did this year.

We scored less points on A&M than any other SEC team this year. Our total yards was right near their average allowed.

Did you or did you not like the scheme and the playcalling?

Do you think this would have be successful against good defenses?

Newsflash, Jennings has been running the read option the entire year, it usually goes for 2 yards and a crushing blow when he keeps it. Did you see the size of the holes? A&Ms D is that bad.

I did like spreading them out with jet sweeps and having some misdirection with faking them. So, yes.

combination of bad ref calls, shooting our selves in the foot, and the to be expected kinks of implementing a new offense. But we overcame it all and finally look like we have an offense we can work with going forward. The real test will be what we do in the bowl game. Not whether we win or lose it but do we revert back to our old ways or continue on with an offense that offers hope for a successful season next year. WE will have a month to work on it (plus the week and half already put in and one game under our belts) as compared to a week and a half and no game time experience in the system that we had for this game.

It's not a "new offense". We simply ran a couple of plays that we hadn't run before. As others have pointed out, we have run the read options many times this year. Other teams played it much better than A&M did.

Hardly a memorable win considering we went up against one of the worst defenses in the country and damned near came up on the short end of the stick. That said, I'll take the win.
