Where does Orgeron rank as an LSU coach?

Obviously the big three are Saban, Cholly Mac, and Les. Only two other coaches have won a NC at LSU - Dietzel and O.
When looking back, would you put O in the top 5 all time?

Depends on your criteria of ranking coaches. For me, he would be near the bottom with hallman and archer

I dont think this is obvious either.

Les is 4th

I’ll give him credit that the right situation aligned and he got burrow to lsu. Other than that Aranda was a holdover from Miles staff and was strongly suggested he stay on staff. Raymond is holdover from Miles staff. Mickey Joseph is holdover from Miles staff. Steve E was a miles guy also AND it was Steve E who went to a coaches clinic and found Brady and suggested that idea to hire him so Brady could help SE with the spread.
O is just and idiot with too much ego that bathes in swamp mud. So I would say the worst. Miles was ten times the HC O is

Hold up didnt Les have the most wins as a coach? Say what you want but that shows he did it long term

Les is second behind Mac in both SEC and total wins

Arnsparger was short lived (similar to Saban), but pure coaching is easily in top 3 vs Cholly Mac. If you factor longevity is where Miles or Cholly get recognition.

Bottom rung.
It takes a true fricking complete water-headed idiot to do what he has done to this program.
He's the worst coach I have ever seen.

Coach ranking is tough. For some of them we tend to include our perception based on their time outside of LSU as well. And there's always the difficulty of era-to-era comparisons and different methods of picking a champion over time. I think based solely on what they did at LSU:
1. Miles
2. Dietzel
3. Saban
4. Orgeron
1. Miles
2. Dietzel
3. Saban
4. Orgeron

O wasn’t even a top 5 coach on the 2019 team

Best and most enjoyable season in school
History, he has to be near the top.

Obviously you are too young to remember Archer or Hallman. Maybe look up their records.

If judged by winning percentage and titles, yes he will probably be #5.
