Where did the "God is on our side" grift come in regards to UKs coach?

I’m pretty sure God is neutral on sporting events and isn’t concerned with us whipping Kentucky and heading back to the College World Series baby.

Mangina gets the edge because he actually interfered in a play and then cried he was called out for it.
TV hasn’t done anything close to that and his players aren’t nearly as gay as the UK players

He’s really probably not. I’ve told this story before but I’ve met a lot of SEC head coaches in all sports in my line of work including guys who are hated like Bruce Pearl, John Calipari, and others, and almost all of them are genuinely likable and have some degree of charisma in person in an intimate setting, but UK’s coach is easily the biggest dickhead I’ve ever met in my life and it isn’t even close.
He just reeks of being one of those fake Christian arrogant pricks who sits in the front of his megachurch every Sunday so everyone can see how holy he is when he probably doesn’t even believe in God. He was truly one of the most arrogant, dislikable frickbags I’ve ever had the displeasure of being around. Vitello is easy to hate on TV, and I do very much, but I’d imagine that Vitello is a way better and more likable person than UK’s fig coach

There's not a sport that invokes God more than baseball. I cringe everytime I see players draw a cross in the dirt before stepping in the batters box.
