Agree!! Saban also benefited from better recruiting in the South, especially in La.as the only SEC school in a talent rich state. In Ala. he has to compete with AU,and the rest of SEC. Sure he had a #1 rated class, but 3 other SEC schools were top 11.Also,the overall quality of SEC coaches is better now than it was 5-10 yr. ago.Not to mention his integrity issue should be a negative with quality recruits. This all adds up to a more difficult chore to win a NC in 3 yr. like he did at LSU.

The #1 class really was about #6 or #7 going by average star rating (takes ALL players into account, not Top 20). Looks like they're losing 4 or 5 guys as well to MLB and grades which might further drop them down.

However if injuries don't hit the team and the QB plays very well feel free to rub that in my face in a few months.

Bama lost to UL Monroe last year. End of discussion.

I personally know someone that is a graduate of almost every SEC school (UT being the only exception) and none of them are rude or obnoxious about their teams. Most are flattering towards LSU and all are passionate about their teams. The problem I've always believed with AU or UA is that their state offers no professional teams so all of their delusions go towards their college sports. I (and we in most cases) have the Saints to send part of our delusions towards. And all of you know how many delusions they can take from us.

Bama is college football's version of the Bee Gees. All the rage in the 70's, today not so much.
I'll use an analogy from the original Blues Brothers movie. Once, Bama football was the Blues Brothers band in its prime - mean, loud, nasty and blowing everyone out of the building. Now. it's Murph and the Magictones, wearing monkey suit tuxes and playing for tips at the local Holiday Inn lounge.

So I said every year Playboy does their Annual College Pigskin Review. This year's issue just came out.
Did you see it?
Answer: No. They have anything say about the Tide?
Well, yes they did. It was a pretty good write up. And in typical Playboy fashion they submitted surveys asking some sexually related questions to certain teams.
The question they chose to ask Bama's players:
"Among the places you've previously had sex, have you ever done it in the shower?"
86% of responding Bama players answered "Yes".
The other 14%
said they hadn't
been to prison ...
crickets

You just say, "come back after you've beaten State."

The only difference is that The Gumps are not on a mission from God.

You do realize that Al Gore never said this, right? It was this supposed "liberal media" that ran with that and caused this fallacy to still be in the collective conscious of the population.
Just saying is all.

Fortunately, I don't run into a lot of them up here.
Lucky you...Nashville is a weird melting pot of UT, Auburn and Alabama fans (with a little Vanderbilt mixed in). The gumpers here all walk around fantasizing about how that next Natl Championship will feels, you can see it in their eyes and it's almost like they are experiencing afterglow before the climax. I'm afraid for Sabans life if he doesn't produce a NC in two years.

How did Michigan State do after Saban left with current Alabama asst Bobby Williams ? I mean,if merely having 'Saban recruits' is tantamount to a title, why did he fail so miserably ?

What's really amazing (and sad) is that Bama fans I run into here, and that goes for some other fans as well like Tenn, GA, and Auburn (cause there are tons of all kinds of fans here in Atlanta), is the amazing lack of knowledge about CFB in general and the SEC in particular.
Even on sports talk radio here, they have no clue about LSU or even any other team in the SEC west, all they focus on is GA, FLA and TENN, they know nothing else. Really only GA is the only team they know any details about.
So their arguments that LSU will suck this year or whatever have no credibility, because they don't even know who the players are. Their tired arguments that Miles is winning with Saban's players (4 years later) just go to show you how uneducated they are about SEC football.
It's quite sad, really.

Read TD and you get the same type of fans for LSU. People only point it out about teams they hate. The great thing about college football is that the fans are so passionate that half of them lose their mind and all common sense.
LSU is going to be good next year. Most Bama fans understand this. LSU has lost some important pieces in Dorsey, the defensive backfield, and at QB. Many LSU fans are saying that this team is better which seems a bit odd based on that. But LSU has a great program and will win 9+ games a year. Alabama has been a joke for 10 years now but are slowly building back up. Those who think they're not building back up are just as silly.
