It would be a huge money maker for them. I know Southeastern started selling alcohol at games a couple years back. Why doesn't LSU?

Why do you say that? I would like to enjoy a beer or two during the games to keep my buzz going. LSU would make a ton of money off of this also.

Nope. It's a school-by-school thing. There isn't an actual SEC rule against it, from what I understand.

LSU isn't going to enable your addiction. Don't hide behind money for LSU and everyone else does it.

The reason I am throwing Southeastern in there is to say that if they can make money off of it averaging 1.5k fans per game then LSU can too

I'll post this to avoid a lot of confusion on the rules...

quote:

Alcohol is also not allowed in the general seats at Tiger Stadium, but if you sit right above those areas, in the box seats, you can drink alcohol. "It's easier to control," said LSU Associate Vice Chancellor Herb Vincent. "It's a game management issue." Vincent says because none of the other schools in the Southeastern Conference allow alcohol in general seating, LSU does not feel pressured to change their policy. "It's kind of an unsaid decision that's been made among the league schools that we're not going to sell alcohol," Vincent said. Vincent says if SEC schools start to sell it though, LSU may reconsider. There is no SEC or NCAA policy in place banning alcohol sales at college sports. It's left up to each individual campus to decide.

LSU wants a family friendly atmosphere so it will never happen. They dont need the revenue from alcohol sales.

No addiction here. I rarely drink. I like to let my hair down on Saturdays during the fall and that's about it

to quote Mick "You can't always get what you want". While I agree that alcohol sales would probably make things worse, there is no lack of alcohol in Tiger stadium as it is. Nor is it a particularly family friendly environment, quite honestly.

Herb Vincent addressed this. Basically its a big "understanding" that no SEC school will sell alcohol at home sporting events. Nothing is in contract, so legally any SEC school could do it.

All they would face is the criticism that it would bring, thats it.

My guess is LSU doesn't want to be the leader in this area. There are inherent risks and expenses associated with doing this. LSU will likely wait for someone else in the conference to start selling beer and see how it goes before making that decision.

I hear they're gonna start selling beer after halftime so some people stick around to watch the second half.

People are already hammered going into the game. It could be a liability issue for LSU. If they sell alcohol it could become more dangerous for the extremely inebriated fan both in the stadium and outside. Think of all the drunk assholes in traffic.

It wouldn't be a big deal if our games weren't so late in the afternoon.
