re: When was the last time you were this happy about an LSU coaching hire?

Skip Bertman and Nick Saban were the best hires in LSU sports history. Skip brought college baseball not only at LSU but nationally to the spotlight and Saban brought our football program back from the dead, spring boarding the program to three titles over the next 20 years across three different coaches. He put LSU football on the map and made it a destination.

Yes but Nick Saban and Skip didn't have a championship to their resume when they were hired. Mulkey has 3 has HC, 2 as player and 1 as assistant.
If you're going to count Mulkey's national titles as a player and assiatant, Skip had one as an assistant at Miami. Doesn't change the point of your post, but just saying

Mulkey is a combination of DD Breaux, Yvette Girouard, and Nick Saban all wrapped up in one. Not only does this hire blow it out the park on paper, but if I was to put money down on LSU winning a title in basketball under her I absolutely would. It will bring a new level of excitement to LSU sports.
Like I said earlier, the whole school spirit thing. And it adds another venue to channel that. I'm not all diehard womens basketball, but I will watch it if it's on. I used to watch them in the early 2000's when they would go to war with Tennessee every year. It's fun to have yet another sport to cheer on. Make no mistake about it, football is king here. But I have no problem adding more seats to the throne. Better than being just a one trick pony.

I also was very excited when LSU hired Bo Rein, but that turned into tragedy.

If he went to this extreme for wbb and doesn't go after McDonell or Tadlock in baseball, I'll be disappointed.
That said, amazing hire. Ambassador for the school. Will be great in fundraising and bringing publicity to LSU, in a positive light. Chess hire by Woodward.

We’ll have to agree to disagree then.

I was pretty excited about Wade and even Aranda.
This is more unbelievable. I'm not sure anything really compares to this.
I'm just going to be honest.
I wasn't a basketball fan until LSU hired Wade.
I wasn't a women's basketball fan until LSU hired Mulkey.
I always root for LSU athletics, but these hires have made me actually invested.
I'm excited for LSU as an entire program.

A cringey one.

I'm super excited over this one. It is a big deal. I was 11-14 when Mulkey was a player for the Lady Techsters. I was a huge sports fan and played whatever was in season. I grew up 40 minutes from Ruston, and my Mom, Dad and older siblings along with most of my friends' families were La. Tech people. I went to way more Lady Techster games as a kid than Bulldog men's basketball, and it was always an event, and all the big time teams in women's college basketball rolled though little ole Ruston. KM was most everyone's favorite.
I went to LSU, as that was the only place I ever wanted to go from as early as I can remember, but those years of La. Tech's dominance in WBB were a lot of fun. This is a very nostalgic hire for me and I'm pumped. I realize the fact that WBB is not a revenue sport, but this is totally a hire LSU is justified in spending money on for so many reasons that go without saying.
Way to go Scott Woodward, way to go LSU admin.

No, the post was claiming that Mulkey is the best hire in LSU sports history. She’s the most blockbuster hire in LSU sports history, of course. But the best hire in LSU sports history? There is no way of knowing that at this point, on day one. If we’re talking about superlatives, Saban and Bertman’s hires are the two best hires due to what they both accomplished for LSU. Mulkey hasn’t accomplished anything at LSU yet, though I have no doubt she will accomplish more for Women’s basketball at LSU than any other coach has in the past.

Either you’re not an alumni, or you’re a shitty one. Having pride in your school means supporting all sports, academic teams, the fricking band, doesn’t matter. I’d support LSU if it was a fricking literal pissing contest.

When they fired Les Miles. Because I knew the new coach would not be Les Miles.

So we proved we can throw a lot of money at a huge money losing sport that will take resources better spent on other needs.
Great lady... great coach. Economics awful
So could really care less
The women in BTR who should be supporting women’s sports will not go to game anyway
Only way this is a winner is if women go to games.
