Are you referring to the 01 sec championship Tennessee game?

We’ll be ranked.

May not have been without Burrow, but with him, we will be. 20s but ranked and poised to make a big jump to 10-15 with a primetime Sunday night win over Miami with the whole country watching.

Everything is there for the taking.

It doesn’t, not sure why all those posters said that.

If anything, it helps because the many of voters in the AP want a ranked matchup for the Sunday primetime game against Miami.

We will be ranked.

I’ll say #9 Miami vs #23 LSU on ABC

Incorrect, he just finally ran out of Saban players.

Miles best record was in years 6-9, also the best stretch in LSU history.

But don’t let facts get in the way of bias and opinion

Probably the 2000 game.

For those of us there, and on the field that night, it is one of the best games in Tiger Stadium history and the beginning of The Golden Era

This year, when you're watching preseason shows, pay attention when they're talking about rankings. They bring up the schedule all the time. Herbstreit is who I've noticed the most saying it.

I think LSU is probably won of the 25 best teams in the country, but for some crazy reason people vote based on the schedule even in preseason. The perception of our schedule is gonna cost LSU votes in the poll.

I hear ya. I mean they always talk about schedule when analyzing a team and giving a sense of where they could end up. It’s relevant to talk about for sure.

But when the actual voters sit down to rank them I think that is not what drives that actual vote.

I think they’ll consider Aranda, White, and the studs on defense and the big OSU transfer at QB coming to save the day and we’ll get that 23-25 vote.

Doubts about the coaching staff may make them hesitate but ultimately I doubt pollsters only put three SEC teams in their rankings, all in top 10.

Someone will get a nod at the bottom and I don’t see anyone getting the benefit of the doubt more than us

If people look at our schedule and find six teams that can beat us it will probably lead them to believe that we are not very good and not a top 25 team. I do not see what is so hard about this.

As I stated in my other post.

IMO, the rankings should always reflect how good the teams are at the time, not what they are projected to be.

I don't see what's so hard about this.

There aren't six teams on LSU's schedule that can beat them.

I wasn’t the biggest Miles fan but it amazes me how many people shite on him and his success but prop up Coach O, makes zero sense.

Good question? But irrelevant at this time because we are still 3 months away from the season starting and there is still plenty of time for revisions to the top 25.

Ok. How do you know how good they are before they play a game?

Part of ranking teams is figuring out who can beat who. If Team A can beat Team B you rank Team A higher.

So, it involves projection. What's your process?

1. Alabama
2. UGA.
3. Auburn
4. Florida
5. Miami
6. Mississippi State

Whether all six will beat LSU is another matter. But all 6 can and looking at it now, all 6 may even be favored. Having to play UGA, UF, and Miss St in consecutive weeks will be hell and would be hell for any team in the country.

I would disagree and say there are six teams that “could” beat us, but not “should”. Only Alabama “should”.

But if we go 2-4 against the only teams that “could” beat us, that isn’t very good is it?

As of now, O is 2-5 against teams that had a conference record above .500, including our bowl opponents, with an added embarrassment to 4-4 MSU last year.

That’s 2-6 against the “good” teams we’ve played.

If he is 4-10 after this year what the hell has he accomplished since being named coach almost two years ago???

[schedule] doesn’t [factor into preseason rankings]
Do you remember the 2000's West Virginia teams that were consistently in the preseason top-ten, several times top 5, particularly after Miami left the BigEast? While those teams were pretty good, there is no doubt they got ranked that high largely because their Charmin-soft schedule led people to believe they were likely to go undefeated in what was, but shouldn't have been, a BCS conference.
