Random, yeah, but I went down a youtube rabbit hole watching highlights and it jogged my memory of all those games Jimbo would call the inside screen to Bowe and Doucet in 2006 and even Crowton would use those underneath screens to Scott in 2007.

Seems like it died after that with the shitastic run of QB's we've had since. Can't really recall Mettenberger doing it though either.

Agreed. Said this to my dad the other day.

We arent catching defenses off guard like I thought we would.

We lost the screen pass long before we adopted the short side option...

I don't know if it was the last one, but didn't LF take a screen pass for a TD against Texas Tech in that bowl game a few years ago.

It's the perfect neutralizer against the blitz. Syracuse did it against LSU.

We don't have the OL personnel to pull off something that complicated

Our oline would probably reach full tard status if Canada dialed up a screen.

We used to run that little inside screen to Ware every now and then, but that's not really a traditional screen... I mean shite the best screen team in all of football is an hour away, we can't get them to teach our coaches?

I'd rather coach Stud calling the plays right now.

We did finally dump it off to D. Williams against Syracuse in what was just about a screen as they were sending everyone after the QB. It went for about 30 yards too. Our RBs and Chark should get numerous passes near the line of scrimmage because it can be very effective in getting yards and in slowing down the pass rush.

I'd like to see more of these (and true screens) but the OL needs to do a better job of slowing down the rush. It's not a talent or strength thing (as we can field a whole line of guys who were here last year). They are missing assignments.

They just need to commit to the play and not have RBs or TEs in for protection on every down and each OL needs to know he has to do his job.

We used to run the stupid WR screens all the time. I hated that crap.
