Been a Tiger fan since 8 years old but did not hate Bama till I went to LSU in '69. It was taught at school. you were exposed to the hatred for Bama and Ole Miss and it became as natural as eating and is always there. Glorious!

Then why'd your old man bet $100 on a football game?

When my buddy Moses parted the Red Sea, he said I should beware any sort of cherry-colored body of water because it was evil.

So, a long time ago.

1/9/12.

I have always not liked Bama, but I can honestly say that I have a hatred for all things Alabama since then. It is not your typically I hate that hatred, but a borderline need to seek professional help hate.

Somewhere between Shaun Alexander running for 300 yards in Tiger Stadium and Josh Booty trying to be Mike Vick in Tuscaloosa.

I started hating Bama.
Then I was born.

Mike Archer was the coach, not sure what the year was. I was born in the middle of November, so we would usually go to a game around that time. When it wasn't Mississippi St., it was usually Alabama. Mississippi St. fans were nice, so I couldn't hate them as much.

Back then, I got more excited over basketball though. I couldn't stand Wimp Sanderson.

1941: Myth

One day, when I have children, I'll read about this one to them before bed each night. Fact is, it might as well be written in a book full of colorful pictures and fairy tales. The AP ranked Alabama 20th in the nation this season with 14 teams having better records above them. Once again, it is the Football Thesaurus that retroactively awards the Tide this title. Alabama finished third in the SEC that year, while Mississippi State won the SEC title. It completely baffles me that 'Bama claims a national title in 1941.

When I was about 5 or 6 years old my daddy had the Talk. Said if I was going to live in his house there were a few rules to be followed. Number one was go to church every Sunday. Number two was live by the golden rule. Number three was under no circumstances will you ever pull for Alabama Crimson tide or the Dallas Cowboys. My younger brother once hollered roll tide and was met with his backhand. Of course this was in the 1960's so no one thought anything of it.

My family moved to Magnolia Springs, Alabama when I was in the first grade, around 1977. We rented a house that had a bathroom (the one we kids had to use) that had Alabama Crimson Tide wall paper that was as atrocious and obnoxious as the many fans that I met once there.

I grew up learning to hate Ole Miss from my LSU grad parents. But it didn't take long for that hate to be redirected to Alabama.

Frick Bama.

Your dad bet $100 when you needed an extra $100? He sounds like he had a gambling problem. Would you have lost the house if LSU had lost?

Hah. 1973 - I was a 13 year old kid, first LSU game I ever attended. We lost 21-7.

Even then I knew hating the Gumps was something special.

I'm going to defend your dad. Sounds like he knew a wise investment opportunity when he saw it.

Lol

Y'all were poor.
Perhaps your dad shouldn't been betting so much if y'all needed the money that bad.
