It's good you are getting checkups. I used to do it every year and didn't for a few years. Low and behold, my liver enzymes were pretty high in the last one.
Glad to hear all is going well. Keep doing those annual checkups either way.

How's it going cutting back?
Also, I strongly urge you to get some labs done to check your live enzyme levels. I had the same habit as you as far as consumption goes, but this has probably only gone on for 2-3 years. I just had some labs done and my liver enzyme levels were very high, and higher than normal, which could lead to several bad outcomes if I can't get the numbers down. I have to go back for another test in a month and have to cut back on alcohol and see if that brings the levels down. My difference from you is that I probably get less exercise than you, though I still get a decent amount (walk dog every day, play soccer once / week). I've also been eating pretty poorly in that same timeframe, so I'll need to change those habits too.
Good luck and hope all is going well.

Actually, that can sometimes cause parasomnia.

I've tried pills and have seen more than 1 specialist. Still can't beat this condition.

Just curious if this stuff works. I've tried just about everything to help with parasomnia but nothing seems to work.

uh....First, it's not just about "biting." It's about maiming and killing. Nobody cares about a little nip. Second, you admit that the breed has a problem with biting (i'm assuming you mean biting and killing), higher than any other breed. How does that make them "wonderful" to you? The fact that your dog could snap and kill a kid at any moment is "wonderful"? Your willful ignorance is amusing.
Would you accept a kidney donation from someone you knew, but not family or close friend?
Posted by Green Grass Miracle on 3/24/17 at 4:20 pm
First, here is some background:
I have a relative (in his 60's) who needs a kidney. He's on dialysis and is doing ok. His wife, who doesn't match his blood type, has signed up to do a kidney swap. For those not familiar with a kidney swap, this is where one person exchanges kidneys with another donor/recipient pair. Two live donor transplants would occur. This will help him get a kidney sooner than waiting for an anonymous donor.
So here is where the story gets odd. An old friend of my relative (he hasn't talked to him in about 40 years) runs into him at a high school reunion. They get to chatting and the kidney issue comes up. The friend says that he's the same blood type and that he'd be happy to donate his kidney. My relative didn't think this guy was serious, but the guy called him up later that week to discuss it, and he's since gone and been tested, and is close to being cleared to donate.
This almost seems too good to be true. Here is my concern. What happens later on if the donor is out on his luck and needs help (financially or other). There seems to be a risk that he could take advantage of my relative, and he may feel compelled to help him. The donor seems like a good guy, and should be well off, since he's a pharmacist.
What would you do in this situation? Take a kidney ASAP from the old friend and hope you don't get taken advantage of, or wait for the kidney swap process to find a match, which could take a year or maybe longer?
TLDR
A relative of mine needs a kidney
Old friend that he hasn't seen in 40 years wants to donate
I'm worried that said friend may take advantage of relative.

re: Tax Question - Donated car to charity...car was originally gifted to me

Thanks. Turbotax needs some improvement in this section. The FMV was easily over $800 when I got it...probably at least $8K to be honest as it was in good condition. I know I've invested at least $1K into it, so I just put $1k as the purchase price in turbotax, and it gave me the full deduction, which added about $200 to my refund.
Thanks for the advice everyone!

re: Have you ever taken a girl out on a "Friend Date?"
Posted by Green Grass Miracle on 2/8/17 at 2:23 pm to tke857
Yes, I have, but not to that extent. I was friend zoned and trying to get out of it. Went to a movie and I bought her ticket. Went to dinner (nothing fancy) and bought her dinner. I was 19 and an idiot at the time. I wish I could go back and not waste almost a year of my life chasing that one.

Tax Question - Donated car to charity...car was originally gifted to me
Posted by Green Grass Miracle on 2/8/17 at 11:08 am
In high school, my parents bought me a car and had it registered to me. I kept it until the year after I graduated college. My parents were looking to buy a new car and I was interested in their old car, so they traded me their old car for mine, and then traded in my car to go toward their new car purchase. I hope I haven't lost you...
I kept that same car for several years, doing several repairs to keep it running, and probably invested a few $K over at least a decade. Last year, it finally had a major breakdown that wasn't worth fixing, so I donated it to a local charity, in which it sold for $800 according to their 1098C form that they sent me. I figured that I could write this off on my taxes, but according to Turbotax, since the car "appreciated" to $800 from the $0 that I paid for it, I can't receive any tax break. Is this correct? I spent a lot of money to keep that car running. I could have also sold the car to a parts yard and donated the proceeds from it, and received a tax benefit, no? I don't understand why I can't get a benefit just because of the means to which I donated to charity.

Does anyone know where to get this type of information? I've searched and seen it mentioned in Will Cover threads, but can't seem to find it. Do I have to just ask a salesman what they are?

Anyone wonder why Kenny has been mostly absent for these two episodes? The only time I remember seeing him was lying on the ground at the end of this one.

Should I just get a loan from the dealership? Does it really matter if I plan on paying off this loan in a few months, as long as there is no early payoff penalty?

I'm getting inheritance in a few months and need a car now

I am very fortunate and will be receiving enough money to buy a car in the next couple of months. I had planned on waiting until then, but my car blew the head gasket and is beyond totaled. What type of loan should I get with these circumstances? Is it possible to get a loan with 0 interest for a period of time, and I can pay it off once I get the money?
Any advice would be very appreciated.
