I was in his corner and believed that he could get it done until he told me I was spoiled. For some reason, that reminded me of Gerry Dinardo in a very, very negative way.
The problems in Dinardo‘s last two years were obvious to everybody except perhaps him. In that press conference, Kelly sounded so much like him that a switch flipped in my brain and his firing could not have come soon enough

Before he was hired.

Last year after the total collapse to A&M everything started coming into focus for me.
Little did I know this year it would be worse…
My aggy neighbor saw me Monday after the game and said “You’re welcome!” after the game. He’s right. Kelly was a cancer that needed to go.

September 3, 2023. Second straight loss in a row for the season opener against Florida.
I can understand losing his first season opener the prior year, but two in a row? And to fricking Florida? I knew then that we would be in trouble with Kelly.
The third season opener loss in 2024 against USC after talking so big pre season, was absolute confirmation that this guy was a fraud.

Was that the famully episode?
I really thought that was a poor fit culturally at LSU as soon as it was announced. I mean O and grasseater got it. They made themselves fit in. O was obviously part of yall.
BK was the first guy I thought... he doesn't fit.

When I looked back at how incredible Jayden/Malik/Thomas were for us and saw 3 losses with those guys. Ed O went 15-0 with that type of talent and BK went 10-3. I didn’t see any way forward to success after that

FSU 2023 watching that atrocious defense.

Tbh every time I saw a video of him trying to motivate our team… i always thought if I was a player I’d want to fall asleep. Talking about things like “sticking to our traits”. Very cerebral type guy who I never thought could relate to kids, and he was always stealing other coaches mantras. Lol

'Round about the time it was announced that LSU had snaked Notre Dame's coach from them and brought him to Baton Rouge. To paraphrase Les Miles: "I had a want to have faith in Kelly" but that want was never fulfilled. Getting LSU up and running on all cylinders with Kelly felt akin to lighting a campfire with wet matches and kindling.

When he killed a kid while coaching at Notre Dame

He lost me year two with the constant look on the sideline that he had no idea what was going on. He just never seems to have an answer when things go awry.
It became obvious that we were winning games strictly on talent differential. In-game adjustments were lacking, especially this season.

“You’re spoiled” comment was the big fat red alarm, and then having to call the timeout on 2nd down and goal at the 1 yard at Vandy kind of salted the notion.
