The correct answer is when he beat Bama. It was the first tangible thing he did to truly set himself above the last coach.
LOL at these people saying Day 1. You had no intelligent reason to believe that at the time. If that’s really true, you need to invest all your money in lottery tickets right now because it was blind luck.

Figured it couldnt be any worse.

From the beginning. I coined haters for the hardheaded fans who later have all jumped on the bandwagon.

at some point in 2016.
although, the loss to Troy for sure tested that....
in 2017, if we beat Troy and Notre Dame like we could/should have, his record is even more impressive. i think he's learned/grown as a coach. i'm happy for him and for us that it's worked out.

When all the players were going nuts for him to return, that’s when I knew we had something. Then we kicked the living shite out of Louisville and that’s when I thought great things were on the horizon

I was in favor of the hire from the beginning. Coach O had a plan from the beginning and I always said we should give him a chance to deliver on his promises...and guess what? Coach O has never said he was going to do something and not done it.
It’s kind of like being in a relationship with someone that never follows through with anything, then you find someone new that does EVERYTHING they say they’re going to do but it takes them doing something REALLY good for you to look back and realize, “Holy shite! This person is the most trustworthy person I’ve ever met! I should be THANKFUL for this person!”

we had the 2nd most nfl draft picks in CFB.

. No, it was not as big a surprise as many of the O haters made it to be.
holy shite....
wanna take a guess how long it had been since we lost an ooc home game?
the troy loss was shocking considering we had a 55 to 0, 4 and 5 star advantage

When we beat Bama !

As depressing as that was, many of us viewed that as an aberration and simply a stepping stone in the direction of success
except O's entire head coaching career, to that point, was built on those types of losses.
quote:
Had seen almost an exact copy of that in Saban's rise
o wasnt taking over a lsu program void of talent and recent success like saban.

except this Troy team was actually good
Boise state and south alabama beg to differ

including Miles whose laissez faire recruiting style had cost us several big LA recruits.

my sentiments exactly

yep. he had never proven he could run a successful side of the ball let alone a program.the only time he was allowed to make long term decisions at a program it ended in the worst tenure ever at a program full of shite tenures. then the 2017 season made me wanna cut bait. losing to troy, having the worst loss in the history of the lsu/msu series, finishing 12th in recruiting, firing an oc after 1 year.
but he has proven his worth and last year was the greatest season in lsu history. he has earned my respect and loyalty. hearing him talk about his parents and what it means for him to be the HC at lsu as endered himself to me.
I can honestly say I'm glad he is our coach and that I was wrong for wanting him gone.

I was always in favor of giving him a chance. Alleva said he would be considered if he did well as interim, and I thought he earned it.
But don't kid yourselves. The lurkers are out there, too scared or embarrassed or full of themselves to admit they were wrong. As soon as he loses a game he should have won, they'll be back with their self-aggrandizing hate in full force.

that's true of every recent lsu coach. it's not new to O. people bashed miles for not winning sec road games by enough points. it comes with the program. we love, bash, and question ferociously.

That's only because you do not understand the process. And dont feel bad, the majority of the fans are like you and Rick. Not everyone understands what is happening if there is no result attached to it.
There were some ahead of the curve. From Day 1? Nah, no one could have known that. But 2017, post Troy was nice. Young freshman class was coming into their own. A class that saw 3rd or 4th most snaps by Freshman of any P5 school that year. The one that would eventually lead LSU to the national championship this past year...But yea, who could have seen that....a 9-4 team full of freshman would go on to do great things.... no one could have called that

The Joe Brady hire about a year ago was a mental turning point for me on O. I'd bashed the hiring of O and his tenure a good bit until then.
But, and my post history from last off-season will back it up, it showed me O was ready to do whatever was necessary to find the right elements. Brady was a high risk/reward hire. A hire a strong leader makes and goes all in on.

2 more losses while having a shite offense?nice?

I forgot that nfl draft picks no longer indicate talent for just that 2017 season.
where were all your ban bets prior to the 2019 season that lsu was going win the sec?

like you called Guice being a shite rb at lsu?
or like you calling that we need a rb to beat out CEH for us to be good on offense?

Day 1 - I was glad we didnt land Jimbo and that azzhat from U of H. Jimbo IMO was lateral move from Miles and azzhat is not a bigtime coach.
I was excited to see what O could do. Did I believe he would win the Natty in 3 years? No, but I thought he was good for LSU. I loved him from Day 1. And I am so happy for him!

Honestly, when he hired Matt Canada as OC...I agree Matt's tenure was not great by any means, but it showed O wanted to revamp the offence.
