The chant started about 1957, by Mississippi State, the week before playing Ole Miss. I know this because I was a student at LSU then. LSU then adopted it when LSU and OLE Miss had more tension, even riots before their game. Also, the games were more exciting then.

I'm 66 years old and can vividly remember my dad and older brother going to game or listening over the radio. I think I can recall it as early as '59 or so.

I graduated from LSU when LSU won the first national title in Billy Cannon's junior year and I can tell you that was the first year I ever heard the "Go to hell ole Mise" chant.

As long as I have been an LSU fan, which was in 1961, watching Jerry Stovall's run for the Heisman...In 1970, Kirby Smith dorm was lit up with the lights spelling "Go to Hell Ole Miss"...

1961, officially. The LSU-Ole Miss rivalry was at a fever pitch in that era as both teams were among the nation's best for five straight years.
Legend has it that Ole Miss dropped leaflets written "Go To Hell LSU" on the LSU campus, and this started the tradition between the teams.

started in the 50's.
Which side I do not know but Johnny Vaught accused Dietzel of "bombing" the Ole Miss campus with "Go to Hell Ole Miss Go to Hell" "signs" or whatever....paper flyers I guess

My dad graduated in '52 and I think he said it was around back then.

Same age here Johnny U. I remember my uncle telling me about it in 58-59 or so as we listened on the radio.
I may have participated In the last OM week panty raid around 69-70?
Almost got arrested because we had been warned we would be if we were caught. My room mate caught 2 pair. Being height challenged I caught nada in the crowd.

I remember seeing "Go to Hell, Ole Miss" buttons and hearing the chant at a basketball game here circus 1977 when I was a little kid. So it's been around probably even longer than that.

Tigrlee, why do you have to be such a douche?

Had to be at least before '59. I was born in "58 and my dad used to say that was my first sentence I could repeat.
Go to Hell Ole Miss.

Was going strong when I was a freshman in 1963

According to TD
I can remember it in the late 50's.
The adults would whisper about it if kids were around. Otherwise, they would laugh about it.
P.S. One of the links in this link doesn't seem to work.
P.S.S. Back then there was a lot of Mississippi people moving to Louisiana for jobs after WWII, especially at the plants in B.R. I suspect there was a lot of familial angst behind the yells.

I started attending (as a kid) in the mid-70's and remember it well. Hell, I remember fans yelling it on the way out of the stadium after every game the preceded the Ole Miss game.
The first game I ever attended at Tiger Stadium was the 1971 game against Alabama, where we lost 14-7. I remember walking around the stadium with my brothers and my Dad and seeing "Go to Hell, Ole Miss" in grafitti on the side of one of the stadium gates. Also heard lots of people saying it.
I also remember seeing "Archie Who?" in grafitti on the side of the stadium.
