I think the problem is that ADs want TOO much history of success before they take a risk.

I mean I think PJ Fleck is an up&comer but hes not ready to head an SEC program......yet

But Ed Orgeron is?

I would rather take a chance on a coach who at least had prior success of improving a program

I agree on Campbell, but he probably needs 2 more years of sustained improvement before the bigs will come calling.

The buyout to the school
Is insane too. It’s like 9 mill.

Neal Browns is wild too.

When he grows a pair, and gives the ball to his best player at the goaline. Ever heard of the saying, "never lose than less than your best?"

lol he took a 1 win Western Michigan team to a NY6 bowl in 3 years and left the cupboard stocked enough that his successor won 8 games last year.

Yeah he did. He lowballed Jimbo, thinking he could get a proven elite coach (yes I know he checked out in his last year at FSU) for about what he was already making at FSU, then offered Herman about a mil less than that and ran away when UT wanted to talk to him, saying he wouldn’t get in a bidding war.

Edit: for what he was wanting to spend, he could’ve then turned to the “up and comer” class of coaches, but his pride wouldn’t let him.

I've watched a match or 2. The home team triumphed after kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a giant H. It was a most gripping victory. Would watch again.

You know the difference between Fleck and Orgeron?

Fleck had not already taken an SECW school and run it into the fricking ditch.

Well Browns is 3 million

Campbell is currently at 9.4 Million.

It’s pretty decent money to pay on top
Of a coaches salary.

If this was considered, why was Alleva wasting his time on guys who had far bigger buyouts and wanted way more money?

You can’t tell me LSU is too poor to hire a coach from a school like ISU or Troy. Come on.

You honestly think Herman would have chosen LSU if the money was equal? LOfrickingL

No I don’t. Not when the other school is UT.

Herman was a panic attempt when Alleva missed on Jimbo.

I’m just saying Alleva was shopping for a Mercedes with Honda money.

I’m not sure how it works, but I bet for instance that they could work out a contract with someone like Brown for a salary that’s still about triple what he makes, with the stipulation it increases to a more typical amount once the buyout is paid. Incentives for success plus opportunity at the next level. Especially if no other P5 school is calling.

Brown I think We could easily get, but at the same time, I think Most school are gonna let me work at a slightly bigger school first. Fleck dominated a similarly sized conference and he’s at Minnesota now.
