1/2/1966. Cotton Bowl. LSU Arkansas. Sports Illustrated said we had no chance and should not be in the game, which had national title implications.
that was the same day i was a born-again LSU fan. Love them so much it hurts. I was 10. Ark had won the national championship the previous year in ’65. They finished their season clobbering Texas 42-24. LSU ended their season with a not-very-impressive 7-3. How LSU got in that game i have no idea. They had no chance. Ark jumped out on top 7-0 in the first quarter. LSU won 14-7.

1946 My dad's brother played end when Y A Tittle was the QB. He also played in 41 and 42 then served in the Philippines with the marines before returning to LSU for the 46 season.

Well lets see, my grandmother got her bachelors degree from LSU, my excuse for a mother went there. Her first husband and my sisters dad played football there from 86-90. I graduated from LSUA but got student tickets, a little trick I still use with my ID card. Oldest sister got a full ride and starts this fall. It's just been in the family.
I have memories of going to Curley Hallman games in the 90s. We lived in Birmingham for a couple of years and I was at the "Pigs Fly game". From 2002 onwards I hit at least 1 game a year.
I was baptized on campus at Christ the King Church and according to the version I tell of the story, they used real tigers blood. Born in BR as well.

Grew up in New Orleans, much of my family graduated from LSU and I frequently attended LSU football and basketball games as a kid. I didn't attend LSU and I haven't lived in New Orleans for 13 years, but no other university or city affiliation seems to be able to overcome my affinity for both LSU and the Saints.

I wouldn't say birth my parents aren't huge lsu fans. When I was about 9 me and my uncle would watch their games and I always loved the home team or state team. I became a diehard fan over the years. 1st game I went to was at tennessee when we won on that last second td pass. Best experience of my life

When we moved here in the early 70's, I would go to games with my dad. Liked it then. Grew up and decided I needed a college degree and went to school there and went to games. Loved it then.

1954 when I was born, Dad was a three sport letterman(Football, Baseball & Basketball) from Istrouma. Still have a signed baseball from Coach Harry Rabenhorst from his college days.
Grew up in University Hills on Delgado Dr and Southdowns on Mimosa. Dad & I lived at LSU, back in the day, lettermen received free tickets. First football game I remember was the Billy Cannon Halloween punt return. Up until I was about 25 I made every significant LSU home game. Going to Pistol Pete's freshman games in the Ag Center. 59 years later I still bleed Purple & Gold even though I'm in the heart of gator country.!!

I became one when I was a kid and my dad and I used to listen to the football games on the radio. Wickersham is probably the oldest qb I can remember or maybe Woodley. For baseball, it had to be the 1986 team with Big Ben and Albert belle. For basketball it was don redden and Blanton. That was around the same time as baseball for me.

I became a Tiger on a trip down to LSU for literary rally my Jr year of high school. Before that I was 100% going out of state for college. Literary rally was held on campus early one morning, but I failed to even step foot on campus or see where it was held.
The night before we came down and stayed with a daughter (Jr or Sr) of one of my parents friends...They didn't want anything to do with us but they told us about Sports, this was 1991...It was some retardedly cheap price for shots and absolute pandemonium for a wide eyed high schooler.
Missed the rally, told everyone it was 'hard'. Told my parents I was attending LSU and they looked at me like I wasn't really me. I was, I had just been LSUified. So, I attended that beautiful motherfricker from 1992-2000 and I wear that first year's football season as a badge. We were horrible and it was the most fun I've ever had by a long shot. Long story short, gotta a couple degrees and married a Chimes waitress. It all worked out well.

I had never heard of LSU until my brother went down from Tennessee to attend school there. He gave me no choice as to where I was going to college.
I had never seen the campus or been to Baton Rouge before arriving for registration. My dorm assignment was 'West Stadium'. When he drove me there I thought it we were just going to an office in the stadium to get keys or fill out forms or something. When he siad 'this is where you're living' - I was like whhhaaaat?!?!?!
5 flights of stairs / no elevator
leaky radiators for heat
no A/C
For invertebrate zoology lab class we had a project wher we had to catch 10 different species of insects. I caught them in about 5 minutes one night in the hall ways.
The last part of this funny story is that I also caught a brown bat that night and put it in a box. Fricker made noise all night! I brought to the Zoology lab the next day thinking I would get extra credit. Well the lab started off with a lecture by the TA and the damn bat was scratching and making all kinds of noise in the box and then it got quiet for about 5 seconds. I look over and the bat pops out and starting flying circles around the lab with all the girls screaming and guys yelling. Pandemonium continues for a minute or two until the bat finds an empty drop panel in the ceiling to disappear into.
I never did get any extra credit for the bat but I had a good time at LSU!

When and Why did you become an LSU Tiger?
Grad student from CA, Sept 1982, vs Oregon State (I think), first notes blasted out by the Golden Band...sold!
Yep. My soph year. The opener vs Oregon State was much anticipated due to two freshman RBs Dalton Hilliard and Garry James, or, as I called them and suggested to Tiger Rag Magazine ,
"LSU's Roaring 20's" (Hilliard was #21 and James was #23).
Both put on a show in their debut, each rushing for over 100 yds in a 45-7 Tiger romp.
Two weeks later on national TV from Gainesville, Hilliard took about a 50 yard screen pass for a TD, breaking tackles and dogding several Gators, to which Musberger exclaimed 'Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a new star.'

Birth! Most of my earliest and best memories was going to LSU footbal games with my Grandpaw, Dad and older brother. Three generatioms of men watching the team they love. We kinda sucked back then but it didn't matter. Maybe one day I will bring my son to watch LSU play with his Grandpaw.
P.S We watched other sports to but never missed a football game. And I don't have any children that I know of.

My dad took my brother and I to the LSU Tulane game in 1961 on the Tulane alumni train from New Orleans. He was on a boxing scolly at USL and finished at Tulane after WW2. I was nine but already a tiger fan. My brother was eight.
After LSU beat Tulane 61-0, he tried to buy us Tulane hats and shirts at the stadium. I broke out crying until I got LSU gear. My brother followed my lead. We immediately put them on and totally embarassed him in front of his Tulane friends on the way back to New Orleans.
My brother and I both attended LSU during the early 70s, and my dad became on of LSUs biggest fans, and still is at age 90.

Brainwashed at an early age.
I had enough sense not to be brainwashed into a Dallas Cowboys fan, though. In 1987, I stepped out of the dark side and became a Saints fan.

My Uncle was always a huge LSU fan. I followed a bit throughout my childhood. Really liked LSU until my senior year of high school. Then I loved it.
