I thought he would be one of the first transfer guys Kelly would go after since he would be an upgrade over Turner at C. Has he picked his next school yet?

He has not. And LSU is on him.

If we could land him and Jalen Catalon on top of the guys Kelly already has in the boat we will be stacked! I know safety isn’t a huge position of need but if you can get a talent like Catalon even for one year you do it. You’d have a starting DB group of Harris, Banks/Alexander at corner with the 3 safeties being Catalon, Brooks and Burns. We would be even better than this year and we had a pretty strong group this season. Renfro could be the last piece to the OL to make it elite.

Starting Center at Cincinnati. Likely a future in the NFL.

Would provide some nice depth behind Turner at center. Brad Davis will get him down here!

That guy isn't coming here to be a backup.

He signs and Turner is leaving.

He is better than Turner. Turner would transfer. He is most likely going to follow his coach and become a badger I would imagine.

He beats Turner out 8 days a week. Not a knock on Turner, but Renfro is an NFL guy today. If Renfro comes, Turner would have to compete at a few other positions, or look elsewhere. Let the chips fall where they may. I don't think Kelly wants Turner to walk, but Renfro is a stud that's a 101% take and very Kelly-ish from the standpoint of diversity in run/pass, leadership, intelligence, and mean.

My biggest complaint on Turner was that he is a little undersized. Renfro is smaller than him by a few pounds. So my question is what makes him an upgrade? Got to be skills?

Edit: I looked him up on UC roster and they have him 20 lbs heavier than 247. That would alleviate my concerns

A poster on another site said Renfro isn’t committing until he visits LSU.

So I guess that makes sense.

Fellas they are not going to knock themselves out over a Center.
Martinez and Delly (with practice time) are upgrades over Turner and West and Mubenga are waiting in the wings.
IF Renfro wants to come here I'd guess we take him but I'm not going to say it's a top priority.
More like it falls under the category of taking elites at any position if they are available and want to be here for more than the bag.
That's why CBK is here, baws, remember?

I think you are vastly underrating what an NFL caliber center can do for your entire offense. He would be the guy running the OL, making the calls and setting the tone on offense. Turner is solid but he got pushed backwards too often by bigger interior DL. You have 2 NFL ready tackles as true sophomores and 3 guards who have proven they can be solid starters in the SEC West, a guy like Renfro could take the unit over the top as possibly the best OL in the conference.

An experienced free safety is needed imo.

Stop with the NFL Caliber Center bullshite! He didn't even play last season! He was All AAC the year before and that's fine.
And I know what the fricking Center's responsibilities are.
Do you remember who the first guy on this board was bitching and moaning about our Centers - Shanahan and Turner - were getting their shite pushed in? Asking for a friend!
You only read it the way you wanted to read it.
I said in this post and about 20 others and all over the Transfer Portal sticky that Kelly is getting into the position of being able to now take elites at any position. The ability to recruit and sign elites is a major reason why he came to LSU.
And if they don't offer Renfro, I'd say the Staff prolly doesn't think he'd be a big enough improvement on what they've got with Martinez/Delly/Turner/West.
And did I mention he didn't play last season? And that Denbrock was his Coach before coming here but he entered the fricking Portal on December 1, and in all this hot time for the Portal he hasn't even visited? Give us the sauce who said we've even offered him, please.
I just read your post above again and except for the first sentence and NFL references, I have made every one of those points in other posts.
Are you my Alter?
