Seems like it would certainly be in the best interest for him to come back considering he did not get drafted. With the run support he have and all of the NIL changes, it seems like 1 more year at LSU could do a lot of good for him.

Why is he leaning toward leaving?

You ask his status but then say he is leaning toward leaving?

He’s most likely already graduated. Maybe he just wants to move on with his life

He seems like a pretty intense serious cat.

He can come back if he wants. He was not drafted but he could very well sign a free agent contract anyway.

If I were in Labas' shoes, weighing whether or not to take a couple thousand to sign and living on ramen noodles against returning to LSU for a chance at improving my stock just a hair and making a run at Omaha...well, I'd be back tomorrow. However, I feel like this could be a numbers game. Not that I think Johnson would run him off, but I think Johnson does need to consider where the numbers put him, who would need to be processed or turned away, etc and where that would leave Labas in the totem pole. I feel confident those conversations have taken place or will very soon.

How do you know that’s an option?

You think Johnson told him that he didn't have a spot? I'm not saying he did or didn't, just curious.

There’s no improving his stock. He can come back and could even be drafted high but he will still get pennies for a contract

I think labas has a spot.

Does he want to spend a 5th year in college is probably what he is struggling with

Honestly who wouldn’t want to spend a 5th year in college?

He has a fiancé who he is about to marry and he seems like the type of guy who would like to have family as soon as he can.

He’s thinking about his future

Maybe he doesn’t want to be in or pay for school anymore? I am sure he wasn’t getting a full ride and likely not offered one next year.

Wish him the best going forward whatever he decides

Run support isn’t going to help his draft stock

He’s not likely to make any money from NIL
