What's the Scam? Dental and Vision separate from "Regular" health insurance?

I don't need a separate policy for dermatology.
I don't need a separate policy for endocrinology.
I don't need a separate policy for cardiology.
I don't need a separate policy for arse doctors.
I don't need a separate policy for oncology.
I don't need a separate policy for radiology.
But if you need a dentist or eye doctor, you need a separate policy.
What is this scam?

Because the ACA deems them as non-essential benefits. Not saying it makes sense, but it’s the explanation.
Most medically necessary dental/vision surgeries are covered under your health insurance.

Ive been to an eye doctor once in my life. I was 41years old and figured I’d get the first eye check up that I’ve been paying for. Doctor said my vision would be considered perfect for any age group. Not just over 40. I’ll never go back to an eye doctor

I recall this being a thing long before the ACA.

Because they are not MDs?

If you see an ophthalmologist, you can use your medical insurance for the exam (some optometrists as well). The vision insurance is mainly for materials (glasses/contacts). If you don't wear glasses/contacts, it's not worth having vision insurance.
