your picture is bad enough.

if all the best players stay healthy, I will eat my hat.

if your projections do not pan out they won't be a .500 team.

People would like to have reasonable expectations of beating Northern Iowa and Wichita State.
No one thinks that is happening. Upper tier Missouri Valley teams would tear 2016-2017 LSU a new one.

Trent Johnson was on the firing line after two losing seasons. He had a winning record, wasn't extended and he left. Brady had a winning record the year before, was on the hot seat and fired after a bad start. Thats still two coaches that left after winning seasons, fired or not. You are debating semantics.

Jones is still relatively new to leading a major division 1 school. Maybe he is over his head, but it takes some people time and some trial and error to find their groove. To me 55 isn't old, especially for a head basketball coach at a SEC school.

Jones record might be a bit inflated. But it is no different than any coach we have ever had. He is still winning. 4 straight winning seasons. If wins again this year, are they really going to fire a coach with 5 straight winning seasons, while running a clean program?

Not making the NCAA tourney is the equivalent to not making a bowl in football so if you're happy with making the tourney 1 out of every 5 years then I guess he's what you want.

I'm sorry but that just isn't true. There are over 300 D1 basketball schools, only 68 make the tournament. Over half the football schools make a bowl (even some with just .500 records). It isn't comparable. But I get your point. The results are disappointing and we want more.

I'm happy with making a run every 3-4 years with progressive success. Louisiana is not a great state for basketball talent. What we can find will need time to develop. I think that's realistic. This coming years team will be one of the youngest I've ever seen. I'm excited to see what they do..

We are 6th most with 15 current NBA players (as of 2015). We are 2nd behind DC (shouldnt count) in per capita. Baton Rouge has 6 NBA players alone and ranked the 7th highest city while having the smallest population by far in the top 15.

The talent is there, it's just not attending LSU anymore.

A lot of those basketball teams are completely irrelevant and never have a shot I know the odds are different but for a power 5 it's about the same. And as far as la not being a basketball state check the amount of NBA players from the state I think the number will surprise you per capita we are very high. Yes we are winning games but our schedule is very weak and those games arnt helping us. If we won 19-21 games a year with Texas schedule I'd say yes we are fine but that's not the case

55 isn't really young, and if he's still learning, then we have a serious problem on our hands.

It's just not working if he was the recruiter we thought he'd be the boarders would be closed and maybe we are a different team but he's not getting the kids we need. So we knew he wasn't a great coach we thought he was a great recruiter but he isn't and we are seeing the results.

That is a cool link and great info. But that is where guys are born, not where they live or grow up. It counts Robert Sacre as being from Baton Rouge..? We have had alot of guys make the league though, especially during that crazy run in the early 2000s. But I've never seen the state as a hot bed. Just 1 or 2 major prospects a year, sometimes less. Plus no great guards. What is the last major lead guard we got? Torris Bright?

DJ Augustine was right in our back yard and he left.

Deny it all you want, but every article, site, and bit of research will show we are at the tops in terms of per capita. We are also out-producing larger states and stay in the top 10 for the most part.

Sacre didn't go to school here but was here a lot growing up was always in his dad's hometown playing pickup games in the local gyms I know that he's just one example but I'm sure he's not the only one

I think it's patently absurd to say that a guy who has been a D-I head coach for 16 years and had been an assistant D-I coach for 15 years before that should need some "time and some trial and error to find their groove."

Can coaches still learn, even after 31 years? Sure. But Jones isn't some greenhorn that we brought in off the street. The guy had been a D-I coach for 31 years. We brought him in to produce - not to piss away years learning on the job.

Augustine was over 10 years ago. But I get the point. We missed on some really good ones. Hard to say who that would be recently...

Jones hasnt missed out on much prior to 2016 and now 17. But the talent was semi thin prior to that, especially in 2014 and 2015 besides Sampson.

Did not get the following

Top 1-5 in 2016 class
Jacob Evans
Dominic Magee was highly rated in 2104 and all we got was #8 Epps
Damian Jones
Rico Gathers, Javan Felix, Michael Qualls, Dee Wagner
Jernard Jarreau
Langston Galloway, Markel Brown, Kourtney Roberson

List goes on, but we had been constantly losing guys to other P5 schools.

And don't forget about Ryan Francis. He averaged 22 and 5 assists he's senior year. Glen oaks went 36-0 that year.

This was before Johnny jones but Louisiana does produce talent. To say that we don't is ridiculous
