Would be a disaster and we’d be looking for a new coach again in 4 years.

He has won 3 national titles as a head coach?
That dude is retired and the same age as the coach retiring now. He is also 10 years older than McDonnell.

Imagine Ole Miss gets to dismiss their head coach for free and upgrades all the while LSU makes the first move and downgrades.
There's no way Woodward is dumb enough to hire Bianco. Alleva...yes. Woodward...no.

They will hire Godwin with a quickness once we take Bianco off their hands.

Before this weekend I saw a lot of positive comments. It looked like the majority of the rant would love the hire.
During the weekend after he threw many bitch fits, the comments seemed to be pretty negative and the majority looked like we didn't want Vitello.

After the series, it seems to be 50/50. Half the rant seems to respect that he is a very good coach and the other half seems to think he's a disrespectful cocky arse hat.
They're both right. I guess the question is that would we want him to be our disrespectful cocky arse hat.

I’m old enough to remember when Urban Meyer retired from a premier coaching spot.
Then got back in the game and did an incredible job.

Staying with Urban Meyer. He only coached 7 years at Ohio State. I’m pretty sure they were happy for his tenure. Casey could give us 7 years.
It seems like the Casey candidacy was dead on arrival, but I would have been excited about it.

Would be a colossal mistake for LSU to make that swap

I find this whole argument hilarious.
On one hand you have Vitello who stands up for his team every chance he gets and doesn’t care how that comes across. Yet when PM called his team and the fans classless back in March he took the high road and avoided punching back. You had PM being a bitch and complaining and Vitello looking like the mature coach.
On the other you have PM who is known for throwing kids under the bus and rarely, if ever, getting tossed to defend his team. I think it happened once this year and it may have only been the second time in his career at LSU. He’s been criticized often for his lack of emotion during big moments as if he just rolls over and takes it. Of course, you also have the gif of him hoping around home plate on one of those rare occasions.
quote:
Vitello fights for his team when he needs to. He takes the high road when he needs to. His players and the fans love him and that passion. They’ll run through walls for him. Their words not mine. Yes, it’s very different from PM but that’s exactly what you want here.
ALL OF THIS RIGHT HERE!
I mean hell we have complained about Maineri for this damn near since he took over the team.
Vitello is a bitch-made a-hole without a doubt that you look across the field at and hope he gets hit with a foul ball to the jaw.....BUT you always would love to have him in your dugout.....similar to Saban but without all the accomplishments that Saban has right now. Honestly, there are some similarities to what Saban was when we hired him. I'm not sure how people don't see it.

The rant hates him after beating us so that means we should hire him

I love Vitello's youth, energy and his love for the game. I am not a fan of his smugness or arrogance, but that is something he can grow out of and change. I'm more concerned about his ability to sustain a program of LSU's stature for a long period of time. He's has proven he can win, but can he do it over the course of 2 decades. He's the hot name right now, but this reminds me of the Tom Herman situation. You just don't know if it's for real or just a season or 2 flash in the pan. If he is the LSU target, then there is a lot riding on him if he takes the job. That's the reason I think LSU wants a proven coach, so he can navigate the obstacles and pressure this job poses. Either way I'll support the new hire. My fandom for the baseball program runs deeper than the coach.
