What's the deal with all the Cajuns-Tigers hate?

I've never understood the hate that comes from both fan bases directed towards each other. The majority of Cajun fans that I've personally met root for LSU when not playing each other and vice versa for LSU fans.
Basically, this is a thread secretly meant to provoke ULaLa - LSU arguments and bickering. It's always hilarious.
Thoughts? Insults?

When I was an undergrad I felt a lot of people around me were genuinely surprised by the hate from ULL fans. I always equated it to being in the LSU shadow and small town people's need for drama to be the sauce to a dry life

USL just wishes they were like LSU. That is all and they get under the skins of LSU fans by saying they are the flagship school of the state and that they are the real University of Louisiana

Could it be because it's actually LSU fans that start the whole argument about UL-ULL-USL naming rights? Genuinely asking.
Always seems that those arguments start because of an LSU fan pointing out that their name is incorrect.

Personally I think it comes from a deep jealousy from tiger fans wishing they could accomplish as much as UL is able to with less talent

Don’t mind the LSU hate from USL. At the end of the day we all know who has the better sports programs.

Well yes I think that even Cajuns fans know that LSU is the Louisiana leader in the sports world.

As far as I know, this only started once Anthony Jennings transferred from LSU to ULL.

I don't think it's just a LSU thing. ULL is jealous of LSU of course but a lot of other fans from in state schools don't care for ULL either. Most people who went to other state schools like LSU.

The Cajun fans I know in Lafayette say LSU is full of arrogance and snobbiness. The hatred is one sided though. ULL thinks about LSU but LSU folk hardly think about ULL.
I personally think some are bitter they did not get into LSU.

There's really not as many people who hate LSU as this board would like you to believe.

Anyone can get into any school in Louisiana fairly easy.

I am an alum of Delgado to LSUS and finished at ULM and if LSU plays anybody I wear purple and Gold.

Yeah I feel like that's how it should be. In-State schools root for other in-state schools. The only exception should be Oregon and Oregon State.

A lot of older ULL fans have told me they hate LSU because LSU was given funding that should have gone to ULL. They said that back in the Huey Long days, he went out of his way to boost up LSU and short change ULL.
Between that and ULL having decent baseball years mixed in while LSU was at the CWS regularly and occasionally bringing home championships, lots of animosity formed in the last 20-30 years.
