There is nothing he can do about it this season. Even if he beats Arkansas and then wins another bowl game the only thing it will show is that he can prepare a team for a bowl given the time to prepare.
He must fire the offensive coaching staff and if he is going to get the confidence back he has to do it next season and he has to beat Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss in the same season. Only way.

It is only a matter of time before LSU becomes one of those schools big names don't want to touch because even a national title and multiple 10 win seasons is not enough.
Coaches are some of the most competitve people in the world. Do you think Urban Meyer, if he were currently at a lesser program, would turn down the LSU job if it were open? LSU is a top tier D1 program with access to a great recruiting base, no intrastate rivals, and great pay. Even if Les Miles won back-to-back national championships and we canned him, there would still be plenty of applicants for the job.

Yes, I thought that was kind of one of the points of my post?

OK, maybe I didn't get everything in your post, but I lived through Curly Hallman and I will not accept that again. It was obvious in 1991 that he should have been gone. I think the same is obvious here with Miles.

Dude, no matter what you think of Miles, he's no Curly Hallman. Really.

It will be a low recovery. Building credibility is hard work and takes time.
He needs to win out this year and go into the offseason with some positives. Then he needs to come back and win the SEC after replacing some of his best players.
Miles probably will not recover.

Win out all the way to an NC next year and we'll still have the same toothless retards claiming the man's a bad coach because of the Mississippi Meltdown.
right, Miles is an excellent gameday manager, excellent disciplinarian as his teams show on the field penalty wise, and he is a great playcaller and all around coach as well as player developer.

Plenty of applicants? This has been said about numerous LSU coaching searches from the past. If there are so many applicants lining up to coach here, why did we end up with Miles last time? Coaching searches are part expertise, part timing, and part luck.

Les Miles is finished - it is just a question of when - regardless of what this man does going forward. Once the national media puts you in its sights they are not going to let up until 'they win'. Add in some of the 'genius' LSU fans and the guy will forever be viewed as damaged goods here. No matter what he does, they will not let the Ole Miss game die.
If I were Les's agent, I would see if it would be possible to land at either Colorado or Kansas this year. Perhaps let LSU pay the buyout for Hawkins at Colorado along with a couple of million supplement for the first two years and then paint it as Les having allegiance to Colorado and wanting to help them in their 'time of need'.
For whatever reason, Les just seems to be a polarizing figure with the LSU fan base. I like the guy and think he could probably fix this, but there are just too many obstacles.

He'll definately "recover" if he can win out the last two this year and do well enough to play for the SEC title next year.
If he does that he'll field a Tiger team in 2011 - provided he doesn't take a job elesewhere.
But he'll never recover enough for some of the more spolied hater-fans, no matter what happens they will not want him here.

their 'want and time of need' fixed for you.
btw, lots of people may think that I don't like L.M. (NOT SO) I have nothing against the man, his family. It's what he can't do as a H.C. in the present at LSU, competing in the SEC.
If it took: (14/15 of these) or will the Lesticle Lovers will be stuck with this: And those same people - Damnant quod non intellegunt, caeci caecos ducentes
Good Luck to all of the LSU Football Tigers playing their last game in Tiger Stadium this coming Senior Night.

Offer up his resignation for the good of the program.

He needs to:
a.) win the West next year
b.) either win SEC Championship or BCS Bowl.
c.) eliminate dumb-arse decisions

Let's hope not. Even if he's only half a Hallman, we're f*cked. I don't see much to be hopeful about in regards to his coaching abilities, much less expecting to compete for divisional titles.
