The win against Oregon in 2011 was a case study in how to prepare for a big-time season opener. Miles knew they were playing a team with speed to burn and they prepared for it all offseason. The final score shows it worked.
P.S. We were loaded that year, as well !

I was at some of those home openers.
Definitely the Oregon & TCU games were fun.

The only L where LSU got physically beat on the field was @ VA Tech. I blame the losses vs. Wisc., MS St, and UCLA on stupid coaching. Our then HC (Miles and CEO) did not have the players prepared, nor did they make ANY crucial game time decisions. The Wisc game @ Lambeau was an absolute joke

I remember Saban's tirade at the time, and I remember Beamer laughing about it.
Saban did not have LSU ready to play a team the caliber of Va Tech in that situation, and both coaches knew it. Saban didn't make crucial in-game adjustments in that game, either.
I get that you hate Miles and Orgeron, and probably respect Saban; but they ALL made the same mistake.
