He and Utah State "parted ways" after going 0-3 in 2020.

Yep, that's him. Thanks.

I would say it’s conceivable that LSU has enough dirt to fire him for cause. Between the Title 9 issues and lawsuits along with the other off the field stupidity.

Then he should have been fired immediately when they had caused.
Now LSU will have condoned all of his actions and the termination will be for results leading to a full payment.

People on here keep saying that the Title IX stuff will get him. That is a double edge sword. Like you said he knows where the bodies are buried and this one could take a lot more people down.

$7,000,000

He will use it to buy the largest shrimp boat in the world and hire Ponamsky to be his first mate.

Soon enough all of our gumbo will have Orgeron shrimp in it.

This didn't just come up during the second half of the Kentucky game. It's likely that Woodward has been seriously looking into what $$ amount it will take to fire Orgeron for awhile -- probably since the UCLA game.

Coaches contracts are complicated these days. (A number of them are available online). Orgeron's contract supposedly contains page after page of reasons he could be terminated with cause.

It's been reported by some -- I think Moscona and Culotta both had it -- that the max amount to pay off Orgeron and the coaches would be around $20 million. That shouldn't be a hindrance for the people who support LSU football.

Obviously, Woodward would rather not pay Orgeron anything, and that would require firing him with cause.
Orgeron would fight the decision legally, which could entail a messy public legal case. I can't believe Woodward or anybody at LSU would want that.

The question becomes how much would it take for Orgeron to go away quietly. Probably the full amount. He's just the kind to threaten to spill the goods on everything if he doesn't get every penny he feels he's owed.

To make it easier on everybody, therefore, I can see Woodward and LSU paying Orgeron all $17 million to be gone and shut up forever.

I'm sure they do but no one wants a long protracted dispute. They'll give enough for him to keep a nice rotation of big-chested divorcees (and their Botox) for the next few years and he'll be good with that.
