Was really glad. He was my first choice.

Honestly, the last hire LSU made that I didn't like was Trent Johnson.
I've loved every football hire after Hallman (though I'll admit that Dinardo and Saban both had to prove it at first) and we haven't really missed in Baseball since Skip was hired (I wouldn't call Smokey a miss because he filled the role of following a legend perfectly. Hard hat to wear).
Of course I was one of the only ones on this site (under my original handle) that supported the Les Miles hire strictly because he was 2-2 against the Stoops Oklahoma with OSU and resurrected that program (everyone who hated the hire kept bringing up the overall record) and I championed for Ed O.
Those two are why people in here ridiculed me and claimed I know shite about sports.
What I'm saying is: who gives a shite what rantards think about a coach?

I didn’t know much about him, I wanted Godwin from ECU…I still think Godwin is a good coach but JJ has proven himself!

Thought it was a solid hire.

There are a few coaches that i think would have been really good fits. I think Jay is the best of them. Some people wouldn't be able to handle LSU, I don't think Vitello would last here, but he's perfect for a place like Tennessee.
I remember liking Jay, and by the time he got here Jacob Berry was in the boat, and somebody else who I forget and I was pretty much sold from then on.

I re.ember thinking "Coach JJ? The last Coach JJ was pretty bad."
Other than that I knew nothing about him or any other candidate so I didn't post anything and have enjoyed the ride.

We expect to be in the CWS every year unless injuries decimate us.
My expectation is back to what it was 2010-2018: be a national seen and host a super regional and be a legit threat to make it to Omaha. It’s hard making it to Omaha every year, just look at how no one from last years CWS made it back.
Unrealistic expectations leads to disappointment
Oh wait this is the rant, everything here is unrealistic

I wasn't super impressed but I was fine with the hire. It was definitely concerning how his middle years at Arizona were pretty mediocre.
I also remember that our fielding and defense his first year here was absolutely atrocious. Later in the season I remember it looked like we had turned a corner and I think we got a sweep that we desperately needed against Vanderbilt.
So that's my take. I didn't have the best first impression. He talked like what a good coach would sound like but the results didn't really translate to the field. I don't know what he did but he got in a groove and I'm so thankful we have him.

I was cautiously optimistic.

I heard him speak at the LBCA Convention in Lafayette when he was at Arizona. I remember leaving there impressed as hell with him. I told people when he was hired that it was a very good hire but nobody could have predicted this. Just an impressive coach and person.

I was excited. Even more so when I dug deeper into his career. I had a feeling he would get to the next level with our money, brand, and fanbase behind him. And here we are.

Excited. The way he discussed his approach sounded Saban like.
