What was your final straw or main reason you left Louisiana?

I am at a breaking point now.
Just sick of this HEAT, broken everything. On top of that, all of the best family members that made this feel like a family are dead.
All I got to show for it is crawfish, a few parades and high car insurance.

The local Washington Parish Republican Committee pushing and electing yes men for the State party annoys me. I could deal with that, but the locals that think our state senator and rep are these wonderful people that have their best interest in mind is the straw. The people around me really are that ignorant. They can't exist in a place where they can't use people, it's all nepotism and who can do what for them.

I left for a job in Texas, but I’m gonna work at getting back home asap.
I’m too much of a family oriented guy. And I have most of my friends in LA/MS/AL

Im here for my father b/c it benefits my kids greatly to have him around. When he's gone so are we. Until then we're making the best of it.
My older siblings did the same thing but their kids are grown and now they're all gone from LA permanently. im the youngest and the one who still has young kids.
things i dislike about LA
High COL and high taxes with very little to show for it.
I would make more money with less restriction almost anywhere else.
High concentration of genuinely unintelligent and often violent people
Also im acutely aware that Im in Mandeville and this is supposed to be one of the better places in the state. its okay but the area clearly was never designed to have as many people as there are, and more are coming constantly. So even if I like it now, its not gonna last.
I could settle for somewhere boring and more rural to raise my kids to adulthood and retire without literally being surrounded by the rat race 24/7.
Iowa sounds pretty nice. And again, I would make more money with less restriction.

Work. I got sick of seeing all my buddies go to texas and make way more money and build better careers and lives so i did the same.

I left Louisiana in 1987 when I graduated from Tech. I didn't necessarily want to leave, but I could not find any jobs in IT in Louisiana. Moved to DFW and lived in Frisco for 34 years. Moved back to Louisiana in 2022 to be close to family and away from traffic, and people in DFW.
DFW and especially Frisco has changed drastically over the last 30+ years. While my time away was good, financially beneficial, etc. I am very happy to be back in Louisiana.
BTW, The hot is the same or hotter in TX than here in Louisiana.

The way LaToya and Avegno treated us in NOLA during the pandemic; sold in 2022 and will not ever be in a position for lunatics like that to assert insanity on me again.
