I've defended Aranda 100% this season

But damn. That tight coverage call when up by 12 is one of, if not THE dumbest fricking defensive call I've ever seen.

Just completely inexcusable. I said it already. If they'd recovered the onside kick, I'd have been OK with Burrow just punching him in the face.

Exactly! Why do you think they’re taking so many defensive lineman and pass rushers this recruiting class? O is addressing our remaining personnel deficiencies with some big time recruits.

Lol got any evidence to back that up? I’ll answer for you, no you don’t. Prior to this season Dave Aranda had the best numbers in all major defensive categories over the course of his career in college football. Translation: by the numbers and facts Aranda was the best DC in college football. Now we’ve had personnel issues and injuries plus with Clemson’s cupcake schedule Venables has likely passed him during this season. But even with that Aranda still has better numbers vs Bama than Clemson’s vaunted DC and remains comfortably in the top 2/3 DCs in the country.

Brett Venables vs Alabama
Games- 4
Points allowed- 115
Average points allowed- 28.8ppg
Most points allowed- 45
Fewest points allowed- 16

Dave Aranda vs Alabama
Games- 4
Points allowed- 97
Average points allowed- 24.3ppg
Most points allowed- 34
Fewest points allowed- 10

Thank god you people don’t have any decision making authority.

The first half was one of the most incredible halves of defensive football I’ve seen in several years considering the competition. Second half was bad.

He’s been very good. Not irreplaceable. However outside of second half of bama and Texas he’s been very good and in the current era of college football it’s about as good as you can ask. We aren’t draining clock every possession on offense to minimize possessions and opposing offense are increasingly difficult to defend.

As someone else said he was better than Saban on Saturday.

we renegotiate Aranda’s contract to free up some money or do we just flush that for continuity’s sake. A DC who is man-to-man bump and running up 12 with a minute left is not head and shoulders above everyone else as his pay would suggest. I’d try to renegotiate his deal to add 2 years to it but bring him down to 2 mil/year.

There has to be a time when you realize that offenses aren't the same as what they have been. It is a lot harder to play defense against the RPO and quick pass game. I think we could all agree that Aranda and the defense could make improvements but its just not the same anymore.

Not played bump and run with the fastest WR core in America.

Not matched up our weakest cover guys on a Biletnikoff winner (repeatedly) and probably the best WR and route runner in America.

Little things like that.

It’s like Dave’s first year as a DC with this fast paced Offense. He will def be ok. We have gotten better every week

I have you haven’t. Orgeron addressed this yesterday when he said that the defensive breakdowns were because of player mistakes aside from the first TD on the trick play. He also said that we have talent on D but not great talent. So I guess we need to fire Orgeron too in your opinion? Calling you ignorant isn’t a slur it’s a fact. You can’t actually know football, know what’s going and say that Aranda is to blame. Anyone doing that is nothing more than a red assed fool looking to scream about something he knows nothing about.

I believe our fanbase HATE prevent defense? Wasn't what cost us most games in the past?

His job now is no big chunk plays and 2/3 key stops per half. Way overpaid but that’s the new job description

That’s good because we didn’t play bump and run on that play. Go watch the replay, did Stingley put his hands in the WR and bump him off the line? Do you know what bump and run coverage is?

It’s so ignorant it is a bit stunning. These people literally don’t know what they’re talking about. Most of them had to be too drunk to understand what happened because they’re not even describing what happened correctly and that’s sad because there’s repeatable video.

Don't be retarded.

Prevent defense can be over used.

But, with fricking 90 seconds to go in the game, basically the ONLY thing you can't have happen is a bomb. YOU PLAY frickING PREVENT.

Hell, so what if they score in 4 plays? If it takes them 4 plays, game over.

NOfrickINBODY plays tight man with 90 seconds to go up 2 scores. NOfrickINBODY

It was so dumb, I almost hope it's just because the call got mixed up to the players(unlikely).

But, it was spectacular dumb.

And remember. I'm not with these board people who've been on his arse. I think our defense is limited by personnel in some areas.

But for frick's sake. YOU RUN PREVENT with 90 fricking seconds to go.

Stingley...….and every other DB, should have been 12 yards off the fricking ball.

LET THEM complete passes in front of you with 90 seconds to go

Have you people EVER watched football before? I say watched, because clearly, played is off the table
