Valued senior in the secondary, but with all these young studs like KT2 and saivion smith not to mention T. White and Ed Paris coming back, his role will be limited imo.

What do you guys expect from him this year? I have always liked his attitude and nose for the ball. Will never forget his strip against Arky in 2013 that sealed the deal for us.

In short, we are stacked, sec fricked.

Arguably one of the better players in 2014 before his injury half way thru that season. Played in the rotation in 2015, but didn't make as many plays. Fifth year in the system and my guess is will get some chances.

He will be the guy we use whenever a member of the team needs a door kicked in.

One of the swing players. If he has a great year, lsu will have a historic season. If he repeats last year, we will likely be disappointed.

They moved him to safety in the spring. I'd like to see him have a Brandon Taylor type of year.

While I want nothing more than a breakout year for a guy like Thomas whos stuck with the program through injuries, demotions at the hands of freshmen, and poor treatment from some in the fan base for poor play and unfulfilled potential, I fear he ends up only being one of the backups who barring injury will only see a marginal amount of snaps the way everything sits. Every word on savion smith is that hes already passed the likes of Paris, Thomas, and is could really challenge for a spot opposite white, while a lot of this is mostly grandeur and nothing but hyperbole to make SS8 fight like hell and try to get a spot, its also for our corner recruits in both 17 and 18. We want Kelvin Joseph and Patrick surtain Jr. To know without a doubt in their minds that they'll have the chance to compete for reps immediately which if they already didn't know that, the progression of savion and toliver will make it only more a fact to kids so fickle that they'd forget that they loved LSU one day because say Tex AM for ex has like a cool hot tub or something as or more dumb than that....question is really what is going on with guys like Donte Jackson, Eric Monroe, Futon seems like hell redshirt, I hope he doesn't get a year of snaps wasted by late game kick coverage or some garbage. Heard Jackson was looking good for the starters ink at slot corner, but that talk has died down, but thats where I think at best Thomas can maybe claw his way to a starters reps again... I just can't see him keeping these young cats off the field for his experience alone. Miles at best will honor him with a fair if not somewhat irrelevant amount of snaps because he takes care of his seniors that actually contributed or still can in some small amount without costing us plays that lose games. First time Thomas gets turned around because he can't turn his hips fast enough in man and gets burnt, that'll be the end of that and you'll see the young guys get more and more reps.

From someone I know, he seems to accept his place on the team/depth, knows who is ahead of him and because of this he is lazy in practice.

He was a huge liability in coverage last year, teams would throw at him constantly.

I have to agree. He hasn't been the same player since his knee injury. Not trying to rip on the kid at all. I know I couldn't do it.

It happens sometimes after ACL injuries. Justin Vincent, Alley Broussard just to name a few. Still good players but not like they were prior to their ACL injuries.

If he has a good year, he may approach Brandon Taylor status. Otherwise, he's a role player.

He's a great blitzer and Aranda loves to send pressure.

Hopefully those two things combine to give him some solid production.

He's also a sure tackler and solid in run support, but very average in coverage.

Thomas isn't even close to being as good as Brandon Taylor. Not a knock on Thomas, but it really isn't close. Taylor was a really solid safety and didn't get near the recognition he deserved while he was at LSU. Thomas just hasn't been the same since his knee injury and I hate that for the guy because he was off to a bad arse start in 2014, but comparing him to Taylor doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
