Does he get a break due to the weather last night?

He has a weak leg and is inaccurate.

He damn near had the 53 yarder. Don't know how to get his head right now. The other miss looked like it was blown about 5 yards right from the gale force wind.

Weak leg is inaccurate. That was a 52-53 yard FG in the rain plus wet field conditions and hit the upright. The weak leg is not the problem. Field conditions played a big part in his kicking game last night. We will see what happens this week in practice.

He would if he hadn’t missed 2 XPs and a FG in perfect weather last week vs Arky

Roll with Gonsolin rest of season and cut them both after season is over

No, the "weak leg" theory is not the problem. However, accuracy is a problem. Even with good field conditions.

He seems to be 100% mental right now. You can see a massive difference in his extra points versus that 53 yarder. I think if he would kick the shite out of extra points, instead of trying to just aim it through the goalpost he would be fine.

No. This WAS NOT a weather issue. He has mechanical flaws in his approach that need to be addressed by a kicking coach before he steps foot back onto a field

He not an option at this point.

We have to go back to Gonsulin.

Nope,

The missed FG was bad
The missed XP was really bad
The nearly made 53 ydr was nice

So, he's not good, he's inconsistent

The young man is over thinking his kicks. Probably needs some coaching. Last nights weather wasn't his fault.

Let’s hold out judgment until we bring in McMahon as our full time ST coach

The word that comes to mind is "inconsistent".

God knows why. It's not weather. Weather was perfect for Arky.

I hate kickers.

He has a scholarship. Gonsoulin does not. Culp not earning his scholarship.

I'm willing to give him a break due to the condition. I thought he had no chance to hit that 53 yarder (even in perfect conditions). He damn near made it in a complete mess.

It's just his first year kicking and I think people forget the high expectations placed on kickers. It's the only position that EXPECTED to be perfect.

Now...if we're having this same conversation 3 games into next season it might be time to move on

We don't seem to ever get a great QB or Field kicker!

This is the correct answer. His mechanics aren't good, and he seems to be trying to adjust with every kick, which is why there's no consistency. It's personally frustrating for me because my son could have been kicking based on how his tryout went 2 years ago and BDP opted to stick to the three amigos we are saddled with now. And that's coming from our sessions working with Wade Richey, not just Daddy bias.

At least Gamble has been turned loose and is getting a fair number of touch backs this year. On the 4th year of his scholarship. Smh.
