What reasonable LSU fan expected this club to make a Super Regional?

If we’re being honest, it’s a flat out miracle this team made it this far this season. First they barely made it to the SEC Tournament. One and done. Last 4 in to essentially get a sympathy vote (Mainieri retirement) to a regional, sent out West, and came up the losers bracket to win it. Then proceed to lose a 2 run SR game on the road with essentially a mid-week starter/middle relief pitcher because of a total mental collapse by a 3rd baseman and still are 2 wins away from going to the CWS. Every legit fan who followed this team this season in no way could have expected being here.

If you would've told me in April we'd make the Supers. I would've personally came to your house and started doing the same drugs you were on. So I'm impressed we made it this far.

I’m fine with saying this shite if we just got eliminated, but playing like you’re happy to be there doesn’t fly

Is this a moral victory thread?
Because I won’t feel satisfied if we get our teeth kicked in by Tennessee 5 times, despite exceeding expectations.

No one, but they had a shot this game, they lost it in the 6th with the terrible fielding.

This is like a next level ULL shite thread

It's not so much the did you expect the team to get this far as the how much did the coaches shite the bed once they got there.

It’s so cringe when y’all say this in an attempt to elevate your opinions above those that disagree with you. I watched the entire season and now that we’re here, yes I expect them to win. Not act like we’re just glad to be here and enjoying the scenery of a road trip in the post season like some mid tier program.

All of them.
The reason Paul is leaving is because we've fallen this far down the mountain. We should be hosting, not down one game.

We didn’t barely get in to the SEC tournament. We didn’t get a sympathy vote to get in to the NCAA tournament, we were better than the other bubble teams. We weren’t even last 4 in. However, I admit I didn’t see this happening. I knew we could compete with most teams in the country.l, but hadn’t been consistent or clutch enough to win a regional. I did think our regional was winnable once I knew who was in it.

I didn't. There was a stretch that I didn't even think we'd be in a regional, but this is LSU. No matter what I thought, the expectation is always Omaha.

Coleman was kinda wild in that inning also but we have to be better in the field I can agree with.

Expectation isn't my preferred word. I always hope for the best, even the impossible at times.
Before the start of the season reading Adam4848's previews, I expected us to. After the Vandy series, I realized it would be a close call to even make the field.
So to answer the OP's question, it kinda depends on when.
This team was young. Plus we had a very soft pre-SEC schedule. Missing out on games with ND and Baylor didn't help. Nobody wanted to hear we were young because they interpreted that as cover for CPM. It wasn't. We were young.
When we started SEC play, we had maybe 3-4 guys who had even played in an SEC game [Gio (injured, Fontenot, Dugas, Beloso, Beck (injured), and Marceaux pitched some as a Fr]. But I thought our starting rotation (Hill, Marceaux, Labas) were good enough to give us a chance in every series.
Well, Hill disappointed even before his injury and even lots the Fri night role. And although a Jr, he hadn't pitched much at this level. So you think he';; improve as the season progresses.
Now combined that with who we started with (State, Vandy, and UTenn). To go from 1-8 and no Hill to where we are now - I'm a little surprised.
Still don't think we're putting it altogether and still think CPM's isn't making the best personnel moves.
Oh well, I have hope - that Marceaux and Labas pitch the games of their lives.

I just prayed literally for them to make it to the Supe to let the ride go on longer and the team hopefully bloom. So I still hope for the best but love these guys.

LSU was pre season ranked @ #12 so technically they should be in a Super Regional.
But yes LSU has come a long ways since the putrid 1 - 8 SEC start.

You did say "reasonable LSU fan" but we had some on here last week wondering what remaining teams could compete with LSU.

If you’re just happy to be here in a super, then you’re going to be over the moon Monday night when we’re headed to Omaha

I haven't missed a game all season (I've even watched while at work) and I can tell you that ever since the re-emergence of Hilliard, I called a super regional birth. It could have been the optimism in me but as the pitching picked up and we finally had a legit weekend rotation with improvement from Coleman and Fontenot, I knew that LSU magic would happen in someone else's regional. With a favorable schedule on the back-end, I knew that RPI and SOS paired with 13 dubs in SEC play before the conference tournament would be enough to make it as a 3 seed. I thought it depended on what SR host we were matched up with to determine whether or not we'd get to the CWS. I still think we take this series. We win a tight one tomorrow with Marceaux on the mound, then beat them with our bats and a decent enough performance from Labas on Monday. (He will not throw a gem as he did against the Zags..This Tennessee offense is way better)

I didn’t expect it, but I’m damn glad to have had this post season okay even though some of it has been ugly.

Moo St., Tennessee, and Vandy being much better than #12 didn’t mean #12 wasn’t a fair prediction, especially given that all of the Tennessee games were winnable. If you’re the #40 team, that shouldn’t be the case.
Even if we didn’t seem to have what it takes all along, you take advantage of the opportunities you get. There are years that you don’t even get the opportunity with better teams on paper.
