What particular moment for you did you believe this team could be special?

All we ever wanted at LSU was a good-to-great offense. We got that this year, and then some.

Was there a moment for you where you said, "ok. We are the team we wanted to see."

For me, I remember watching the UT and saying on that last scoring drive and I said that this drive will give us all the answers. If we kept our foot on the gas and tried to score, I figured we were set. The old LSU would have ran the ball, tried to run the clock, and then put the ball in Texas' hands and handed it over to our defense to make a stop to get the win. It wasn't the 3 and 17 play in particular, but that entire drive as a whole that did it for me.

Northwestern and Vandy happened and I was a bit annoyed by the defense, but after Florida and then Auburn I knew the defense could be good enough combined with the offense.

Did you have a specific moment, or did you know all along?

The last 10 seconds of the first half of the Bama game. The tide turned in that stunned moment when burrow hit CEH and made it 32-13. It was over.

When we just kept scoring on Texas. Any other LSU team would have scored maybe 21-28 points. But when we kept throwing successfully, I knew it was on.

It was early in the Ga. Southern game. We were efficient, crisp and completing passes over the middle. I could just tell that something was different.

Halftime of the Bama game. We'd all seen that movie before, where we looked great heading into Bama and then fell apart after that. Being up 20 in Tuscaloosa, I knew we broke the mental block and opened the floodgates, and I felt like anything was possible.

Third and 18. You know the game. The way Joe slid in the pocket on that play. And then Jefferson caught the ball and Stiff armed the guy for a TD. That play flipped the switch for me.

3rd & 17.

Old LSU teams would have ran something conservative and relied on the defense to get a stop.

I knew we were good after Texas. I didn’t know how good until Florida. Auburn had me doubting a little that we could beat Bama. After Bama I knew we were winning the SEC.
I hope the long break and all the awards doesn’t jinx this team. They have everything it takes to win it all if they stay focused.

I knew we had something special when we recruited Joe, I didn’t know we’d have so much success, but I immediately saw he was going to be good for us

3rd and 17. In a situation like that most coaches, including O in the past, just run a draw or something safe and punt. To go for it and convert I felt like this could be special

Three moments did it for me.

1) When we came out spread in the Georgia Southern game I thought we could put up 30-40 points per game and have 200-250 passing ypg. That was all I wanted/hoped for at the time.

2) When “the best defense in the country” part 1 (Florida), couldn’t stop us I knew the offense was special. I also knew our defense was elite but not playing like it because they just didn’t need to, so I don’t put much stock in their issues in the early season or in small games.

3) When we were up on Bama (with Tua) by 20 at half I knew this team was about to make history. Without their trick play and a blown cover 3 zone where Stingley appeared to get burned, we win that game by 21+. And that’s with us playing relaxed in the third quarter.

I would’ve cried from laughing if someone told me this would be our offense this year. Still two games left, but this may be the greatest LSU team ever (‘11 seemed better because they peaked mid season, but I think we are peaking now).
