What P4 team backed out on a game with us this season, forcing the Purdue Ft Wayne Series?

I remember seeing here that we scheduled the PUFW series because another P4 team backed out on us months before the season and we had to fill the spot. That obviously hurt our SOS and RPI.
Which team backed out. I don’t remember anyone specifying who it was.

Probably backed out so they didn’t have to deal with “weather” delays

Jay wouldn't say, and there's likely only about 10 people that know. In the end, we got a top8 and it doesn't matter, but I still wonder who it may have been

I think Rant sleuths had it narrowed down to top 3 possibilities in a thread earlier in the season.

Apparently it was also a team with a first year coach so that would leave:
Minnesota
Ohio State
Washington
and……
West Virginia

If thats the group, it was probably washington with Eddie Smith at their helm

My guess has always been Washington... could have scheduled it when Jason Kelly was there, then Eddie Smith (who Jay also knows well) could have asked to cancel.

Saw someone the other day that Jay mentioned it was a top 25 team with a new coach in the P4. Only team that fits that is WVU because they were ranked in one poll. I’d love to knock them out
