As is customary with many fans, people aren't giving Etling a short leash, it's a choke chain. They're ready for "the other guy". Etling is more than capable than being what Canada needs to matriculate this offense. His back has healed and he has no physical excuses. If Nathan Peterman could perform at such a level, I'm not worried about Etling. He had a solid year last year and we're not operating under "run 2, pass 1, punt."

If you read this and say that's not a good comparison given ages and comp level, now you have your answer.

Can we take Myles Brennan's best high school game and compare it to Scott's one game he's played in Juco? He threw for over 16,000 yards in three seasons. I'm sure he had a few ridiculous games in there. The fact that Scott's single game states are only "slightly" better than Brennan's average game should tell you something

I'll give you a good comparison to Scott. Dontreal Pruitt played for EMCC in 2013. He was 5'10" 190 lbs. He led his high school to the state title game his senior year in MS. He was an honor roll student, so grades weren't the problem, his size and skill set were. He threw for 4000 yards (~330 ypg), 45 TDs, and only threw 7 INTs in his year as a starter for EMCC. He also rushed for 500 yards and 6 TDs. He ended up at Troy, where he was the backup QB.

EMCC shreds everyone on offense. They have a roster full of D1 talent that couldn't qualify out of high school or former D1 players. Most of the schools they play against are local MS kids that didn't have D1 offers and never will. Most had no offers whatsoever because they simply aren't college talent. If you saw some of the scores in EMCCs games every year, it will become apparent at how much better they are than their opponents.

His performance tells me that he is a high quality football player. We knew that when he was offered a scholarship to play at LSU. It also tells me that he wanted to play now, as opposed to in a year or two. I don't need convincing on Scott as an able player--I was already convinced. Good luck to him and sorry he's moved on.

Lindsey Scott lit it up at EMCC in his first game as a starter since 2015.

Maybe he is an elite Athlete, but not an elite quarterback when facing elite competition.

Same could be said for JJ.

I'm not sure how you have anywhere near enough information to suggest he's not an SEC caliber QB

What it tells us it that some people will forever dismiss anything good or great the young man does in order to justify him "not being SEC caliber" or "letting his athleticism shine" which is hilarious. Find another way to justify your hate for LS.

Some are even giving underhanded compliments that still say he's not good. Let it go. We'll find out about what we're left with beginning tomorrow. Just hope your favorite QB on the LSU roster can play half as well with no excuses.

He's playing in Junior so he's superior right? Well he's also playing behind JUCO Oline as well. He keeps shining and we may be facing him some day. None of us knows.

Bama, LSU, and every other power house has blow out scores. In other 2016 games EMCC went:
Jones 27-25 L
Itawamba 44-42 W
Holmes 63-49 W
MSGCC 27-24 W
NWCC 38-30 W

Mississippi JUCO is a hotbed for D1 talent. So is Kansas and Texas JUCO. EMCC were down 28-14 going to the 4th quarter. This was not a blow out.

The kid had a good game. He was not a good fit at LSU. The kid can play. Does that mean he's the next Drew Brees???? No. He can play. Thats what it last night tells us. It tells us nothing about the existing QBs on our roster. Only one guy has been tested in actual College play. Danny Etling!

I mean, some of you people do know how cam newton and zach mettenberger ended up back in the SEC, right?

Mettenberger and Newton left because they were like kicked off their teams. Scott was 4th string QB behind two freshmen and left on his own. Maybe pick some different JUCOs to compare Scott to.

I understand what you're saying, but come on man. Newton and Mett were highly rated and highly recruited out of HS. They both went to JUCO because they basically had no choice if they wanted to play D1 again.

Hard to tell with JUCO rosters.
We're not talking the SEC here.
Do you really think Scott, at his size, would have been able to throw against a Bama dline.

What do you expect to happen when a DIV I QB from a top team plays in Juco?

Compare LS's numbers to early season single game stats from Chad Kelley and Bo Wallace. Then you might get some reasonable level of understanding of his SEC potential (if any) although SEC teams weren't recruiting him like the other two before other issues arose.

I kinda do. See as Blake Simms (Bama 2013) and Scott are the exact same size, and he threw well against our Dline. QBs throw in passing lanes, not necessarily "over the D-Line".

He had a 50% completion percentage so it tells me he's pretty inaccurate

The game was streamed live last night. 1 INT was a perfectly thrown pass over the middle. It hit the receiver in the hands, bounced off of the WRs chest into the hands of a defender. They also had 6 dropped balls in the first half. The entire unit looked nervous, but settled in the second half. That being said, it was by no means a perfect night for Scott.

Most impressive, was down 28-14 at half, he maintained composure and rallied. He had a few impressive throws last night. Having not started a game since 2015 (and after only being there for two weeks), some rust should be expected.
