Ehh we had two players start in the NFL on the same team and a 3rd that was a back up. Then had another start in the NFL, then had one go first last season.

That's just in the last 15 years.

Question is:
Do we beat the Aggots with Max starting?

What are you saying, Johnson looks very fast and is definitely a strength to his game. He looks like he’s faster than Burrow.

Max has fight in him. He is the starter. TJ may be better in practice. We talking about practice...not a game...practice

This season shows you need two but not most seasons by far.

One thing I noticed last night is that Max talks about ball with his teammates on the sidelines a lot. I really think that communication pays off. They seemed to respond to his toughness on that play where he got laid out on the sideline.

Communication is key! They are a team and should talk to one another after plays! I liked that about Max also.

Foot-work is ultimately the difference here. Max is much more consistent with his foot-work which makes him much more consistent with his delivery.

It proved Max needs to start all games

Not sure I’d put him above Brennan if he comes back and is healthy.

And yes Max played a hell of a game, so did TJ in his first start and the rant was creaming it’s collective pants over it.

TJ needs Max’s pocket awareness.

Max needs TJ’s arm strength.

Both will be good.

He and Koy Moore certainly appear to have a solid rapport.

Only one sample and can’t read too much into it, but anyone catch the scene where Max came to bench and Finley got up and walked away? Sure this was talked about in game thread, but I missed it. Hope all is good there.

I like both young QB’s. With the way of the world may certainly be tough to keep them on roster if Brennan comes back and younger guys show strong. But I truly like aspects of both Max & TJ’s game, keeping in mind both TRUE FR. Max is quick and appears to have good leadership, communication, and certainly patience. TJ’s measurable are off the chart and he can spin that ball, so pretty on many of his big plays.

Brennan will get dinged 1st or 2nd game next year. Time for Max to ball and Nuss to learn and wait his turn. TJ will transfer.

It would have been a miracle for TJ to make that touch pass Max threw early in the game. He is capable because he is a Div 1 QB but not probable

We've definitely had Freshman QBs that did a lot worse

We said the same after TJs first game

Well, TJ’s first game was against South Carolina at home in Baton Rouge and he has not looked good since.

Max Johnson has looked good coming off the bench and led scoring drives when Finley could not.

Max Johnson’s first start was on the road in the Swamp against #6 Florida with their hopes of the CFP on the line.

Hardly the same situation but you Finley defenders being the delusional bunch you are will try to find some negative in a tremendous effort by Johnson and equate this major win to Finley’s efforts in his performances. Ridiculous. Max Johnson is a QB and Finley will need to transfer because true QBs are heading to LSU next year and the following. It is simply a fact.

Do not chisel the granite just yet. Finley's got the gun - and more. He's got HUGE potential. Any SEC school would love to get their hands on him. Hard to believe LSU has this pleasant QB problem after 40 years in the desert.

Finley must learn to step up in the pocket BUT one thing he CAN'T learn is quickness. He doesn't have it. Max is the better runner and always will be. Like "they" say..... You can't teach quickness.

Agreed and it is nothing against Finley but LSU does not have time to waste trying to get Finley to be the QB that Max Johnson already is. For whatever reason, some will try to pump up Finley but the truth was out there to see for anyone who watched the game last night.

It proved that we have two very capable freshman QB’s. Both with various talents and the ability to lead the team. Spring QB Battles over the next couple of years should be really interesting!
