He'll never gain the approval of many here ... just like Miles. Normally, winning cures all ills, but not on the Rant.

Not true. If he wins, I'm in. And I will be supportive from now on out. But this was a great op to get a splashy new hire in the mix and from the outside, it looks like LSU just threw something together. They were poised for a tourney run next year, and now JJ will still be held to that standard. Can they deliver?

I hope I'm proven wrong, I just think this hire was made for all the wrong reasons. But hey, if he recruits well, keeps things clean, and wins..I'll support him.

Recruit nationally and drop the foolish assertion that you can win big by locking down the state.

Have at least one top 25 prospect coming in and an additional 2 in the top 75 or so...

and of course make the NCAA tourney... next seasons team should be one of the more talented teams we have had since Glen Davis and Tyrus Thomas were both here... so if we bring in the expected three recruits we should have a good shot.

Oh and I could not give two ***** about the undersized PF wh cant shoot.. IE Gathers.

Needs to be dynamic and create excitement that we haven't seen since Dale Brown. Use the excitement to get recruits. Without that, It will be tough for any coach at LSU, no matter how good the Xs and Os are.

LSU is a tough BB job right now, Good luck to Johnny.

Potential incoming:

Malik Morgan
Shavon Coleman
Shane Hammink

Returning notables:
Anthony Hickey
Johnny O'Bryant III

Stringer, Turner, etc on the bench.

We need a 5 who can start and a bench 4 and we could be a good team...

Win games. Don't get into trouble. Don't let Dale Brown and CT #2 run the program. Be colorblind in recruiting - don't make it just a bunch of the "brutthers" - go get the best regardless of race. Prove himself to have more character and integrity than years ago when he was one of Daddy Dale's puppets. Brown abd Temple had their day - and it has come and gone. This boy needs to stand on his own two feet. I hope he pulls if off. The program has practically been on life support for awhile.

To give him the benefit of the doubt, I will renew my season tickets for a couple of more seasons. If the season is anything more than a bust this next year, it will be a pleasant surprise - realizing that if it is a bust, it is not much of his fault given the shape of things he inherited. I would want to see progress the following season although my expectations will not be too stellar given how depleted things are.

I wish him luck. The guy is going to need it for awhile.

Reading comprehension problems? It's not a comparison of the two coaches ... it's an example of how many fans have such a dislike for an individual that no matter how successful they end up, the opinion never changes. Do you want to deny there are those here that still hate Miles, despite his level of success?

I agree with recruiting nationally. I do think you "could" win big by locking down the state of Louisiana. The thing is that this can't be done atleast not right now. Why you ask? Because you can't win big without the black athlete and the dynamic is different for the black kid than it is for the white one. Black kids for the most part in Louisiana haven't grown up bleeding purple and gold. There isn't alot of history there. Where as the white kids grow up with the dads and moms pounding into there brains from birth a love for the tigers. This is slowly beginning to change in football but basketball has along ways to go.

Rant standards: win a NCAA tourney

Realistic: be a competitor in the NIT within 2 years.
