BINGO to all of this, no one understands the marketplace, need to take this dead money hit with buying out McMahon and the staff NOW not next year with inflation hitting

No national championships in this timeframe, but from the late 70s to early 90s LSU basketball was a national brand.
In 1981 LSU was the best team in the country until Rudy Macklin broke his finger.
In 1987, LSU was a missed Fess Irvin free throw from playing a final four in the Superdome.

That’s right. A good 10 years before you were even a twinkle in your father’s eye.
Have fun with your joke next season.

Yup, with exception to 82-83, LSU was consistently ranked top 25 and/or in the tournament throughout that span and delivered some top-tier talent to the NBA. Definitely a top relevant program of that era.

You'd be hard pressed to get 1 of 3 people in the PMAC if you bring
McLoser back
McLoser back

Dale Brown and Collins Temple taking a dirt nap for starters

You weren't a gym rat in the era from 1978 to 1992. The PMAC was lit, and a lot of talent coming through that building. Games actually sold out at full price and gimmicy T-shirts, caps and cups weren't required to get fans through the door

Respectfully, I dont think that even gets you in the door now. UK spent $22 mil on roster this season for poor results. I am not sure what other SEC teams spent. Maybe some of our internet lizards on here know…
Edit: a quick google search shows SEC avg this yr at $9.7 mil
We reportedly did spend the 7-8mil after previous seasons at the bottom of the SEC(4-5mil), yet we have a fanbase that expects to be in the middle or the top.
Also worth mentioning that NC State committed to Will Wade "UNC and Duke caliber NIL" and he delivered a similar to UK 10-8 in conference record losing 8 out of their last 9 games and an early exit in the ACC Tournament.

Yet he will be in the tournament Year 1 while McFailure is on the sidelines for the fourth year running.

When was the glory? We’ve had a couple good years here and there sure but yall on here acting like LSU is some premier basketball program like Kentucky or Kansas.

It’s also not true so there’s that. If he wants to believe DJ Thomas was given more money than Cam Boozer he can but it isn’t true.

Kinda proves my point. "Duke and UNC NIL" got him a top 4 projection in the ACC preseason and he underachieved much like UK did. Will Wade gave himself the excuse by saying "we knew it would take longer than a year". You and many others will make excuses for Will Wade, but not for Matt McMahon
The hypocrisy is alive and well on TD

I’m waiting on you to mention that your Coach Mcfraud had 2 injured players that cost him many wins and the “loose” rims…LMAO… I’ve heard this quite often from the McMen…

If Coach McMahon is replaced, make sure he is not replaced by Wade.

He’s our coach until he’s let go, if we do let him go, good riddance. LSU for one, is not going to get an “elite” coach. We will take a shot on another successful mid major coach and although we may end up with a shorter contract we will still be gambling on if he’s ready for the big time now, or we will have to grow with him. Two, you’ve got to bring in someone that can raise enough money to give enough confidence to boosters to pony up even more NIL than we’ve gotten to this point around 10-12m. Someone unfamiliar and someone that will be looking for a bigger annual salary than McMahon got. Not to mention convincing those same boosters that like him and want him to stay to also raise the money to get rid of him.
Without looking at financials, and seeing what some boosters have already said publicly, I think at this point instead of “gambling” on another contract with an unproven coach, I think it would be easier to get those boosters to put their money where their mouth is and spend an extra 5m straight to NIL. The fans will be pissed and rightfully so, but they will come back once they see the difference from a 7-8mil roster to a 12-15mil roster.
