I could have gone to Tech, but I already had a high school diploma.

I'll say this for them, they have 73 more fans than Tulane.

Most everyone in my family went to Tech (mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins) and all are LSU fans. Even the members of my family that actually donate money to Tech are LSU fans. The only time I have encountered any hatred from Tech fans, a contrived hatred, imo, is on their message board, and what the hell do you expect from a bunch of posters on a message board?

Their engineering program is at par, maybe a little better than LSU's. That is pretty damn impressive considering the school funding/supplies.

But that does not equal Tech>LSU

The baseball rivalry with ULL was short-lived and mostly centered around the Aaron Hill incident. Hell, they didn't even play us for 4 years or so; how is that a rivalry?

Who said it was over??

I actually appreciate Tech. The last two times we played them (and beat their asses) we won the National Championship. Guess what? We get their asses again this year on the way to another National Championship. Thanks Tech!!

Not sure currently, but when I went to Tech in 95, I went because their EE program was head and toe above LSU's. As far as rivalries go, believe it or not, there used to be some pretty heated Women's basketball games between the two. I'd like to see some sort of football rivalry get going, and Tech has had chances to be more of a Boise State type, but never follows up on it's short spurts of success. Hopefully Dooley will be a mainstay and get us more on the map. Having Mississippi State travel to 'The Joe' and beating them, then winning the I-Bowl was pretty big for the program. I'm just excited that all that happened with a very young team. Watch out in Death Valley this year. Ever heard of Phillip 'Saturday Night' LIVas? If you haven't, you will!

+1

Ever since I moved to Lafayette, I pull against ULL in everything. I do pull for LA Tech tho for no reason. The penis envy isn't as bad from Tech as it is from ULL.

The hard core Tech fans actually amuse me. Their team plays in a minor league and a high school stadium. Yet, they don't see the hypocrisy of expecting LSU to treat them like one of the "big boys" while their school thinks it's too good to play either of their traditional in-state rivals, ULM and Northwestern State.

There's nothing to gain by playing these games. Win, and that's what is supposed to happen, but lose and it's a big deal. A school like Tech can't afford to start losing recruits to these smaller schools. Isn't Northwestern dII anyways? I know ULM still claims they are division I, but that's only because every year they play Arkansas in Little Rock and the Razorbacks let them call it a home game so they can get their attendence figures up so they won't drop down to dII. I guess the only thing LaTECH and ULM have in common is that they've both beaten Alabama.

You've just made my case!! The same thing could be said about LSU playing La Tech. The prosecution rests!!

Tech sucks in every sport. At one time, Tech had a great womans basketball team. Those days are gone. And it was at a time when other small schools could compete,i.e. ULM's final four appearance and Stephen F Austins dominance. Tech has had few good years in football but nothing more than the success of the other state schools.(ULM's Natl Championshipin football in 80's). Tech would rather stay in the wac and travel to Calif. than play its natural rivals. I assure you that ULM competes in all sports at a level of Tech even if Tech has had a better football program for the past decade. Dont forget that ULM beat a Saban Ala.in football and is quite capable of routinely beating Tech. Save the State $ and play your in State rivals.

Tech won the Independence Bowl last season, what has ULM done recently?
