Wal Mart greeter was a generation ago, COSTCO is the new greeter standard. Think a generation older than you are, not like there are a lot who would hire me at this age. 65 is a cakewalk next to 85 or 95. The old saying "getting old is not for sissies" were speaking truth.

someone made a comment on this board a couple months ago that the entire growth in the dow was nothing more than inflation. it might have been you, you're stupid enough to think something like that. if that were true, then that 1213.93 close in july of 83, would have the dow siting today at 4094 instead of 51,916.

How has America grown since 1983? Number of illegals?

To answer your question of inflation: LSU was like 200 bucks a semester with room and board back then so $1600 all in for a degree

Same degree now with room and board for 4 years? 100k

Blame the Reagan Years and wealthy folks from TX and the like affecting to sectors of the worker pool for these two jobs.

#1 Border crossing allowed by really rich folks to work their land holdings back then (agriculture & livestock).

#2 Construction, Commercial & Residential were USA union jobs. That administration allowed residential construction jobs to go non union and in less that a decade, the work force turned brown. Some illegal, and some illegal, but no move by that administration and residential jobs are still US with good pay and benefits.

Buddy of mine had a kid that did construction JUST in the summer in the early 80's and paid for college, dental school, and medical school (became an oral surgeon) just from that summer work. ZERO college debt when he graduated.

Name another USA company that did not raise their price once in about half that time?

Arizona Tea

The two from my memory

Coke, became one of them most recognized brands in the world at the same time they never raised their price for a Coke (60 years or so).

Hershey, same thing for the Hershey Bar, but it was just 30 years or so if memory is correct

I think Arizona Tea may not have gone that long or at the retail price they charge more than 99 cents.

Chicken breast from Walmart? The good news is that Salmonella isn’t fatal in the majority of cases…

You poor’s ?

Laughable as I and suspect most of the boomers on this board are past the point of worrying about nickels and dimes on fuel, food. The higher costs of living was dealt with for the last 40 plus years, but seeing the demeaning of younger generations still building up their own lives by someone that punks them then throws in BOY as if you are kind of master class is pure comedy as anyone braggadocious about their wealth on a message board is likely one broke mofo. You may not be but you are a big/arse
