What is the most unlikely upset LSU has ever pulled off?

Im thinking the ‘93 bama game but the old timers may know of a better one.

Upsetting #1 Florida in ‘97 was great, but LSU was given somewhat of a chance by the media. Not a single soul believes we win this Saturday.

I would nominate the win over Tennessee in the 2001 SEC Championship game. LSU came in with 3 losses and UT was on their way to play Miami in the Rose Bowl for all the marbles (at least they thought they were).

Rohan Davey got knocked out of the game early and little used freshman backup Matt Mauck came off the bench to lead the upset 31-20.

Still my all time favorite LSU game!

This team isn’t upsetting anyone. They don’t have any dogs on the roster as far as I can see. Plenty of talent but no warriors.

Honestly I don’t LSU think has upset anyone since I’ve been watching.
Mid 80s

Which is a good thing.
Yeh, 93 Alabama game is about the extent of it

I hate that game. It bought freaking Curley one more season.

'97 Florida, but I wouldn't say it was massively "unlikely." Dinardo had us on a bit of a roll going into that one and I think we were decently ranked. I'd still say it was a big upset.

The first time LSU beat Kentucky under Dale Brown. 1974?
The Advocate headline the next day was something like, "Sports Oddity: LSU Beats Kentucky"

Point spread was, by far, it was 93 Bama, line was 26, UF in 1997 line was 9-12 depending on time of the week, 26 is a ton, our biggest loss being upset (by far) was -27 vs Tulane in 1982, for refer me, Troy in 2016 was only 19.5

i mean we’ve been underdogs in every game vs Bama beginning in 2008.
So technically the wins in ‘10, ‘11, and ‘19 are all upsets.

that’s just off top my head.
‘97 Florida and ‘01 Tennessee were bit definitely upsets.

LSU at Tuscaloosa against the Bear during Stovall’s tenure as head coach with Dalton Hilliard and Gary James. No one gave the Tigers a chance to win, LSU was o-10 or 12 vs the Bear.

If by on a roll you mean coming off beating vandy 7-6 on a late blocked extra point then yeah we were on a roll

We were ranked 14th going into the 1997 Florida game. We were a good team.

I was at that game and remember screaming at the top of my lungs till I was hoarse:

"Our #2 QB and our #2 RB just beat the #2 team in the nation"

There were some pissed off UT fans leaving that game.

93 Alabama and it not even close. 26-27 point spread. Alabama had a home undefeated streak of 20 plus at the time. They won the NC the year before. They were ranked in the top 5. Had not lost (they tied #2 ranked Tenn in 93 before the LSU game ) a game since 1991.
