For the O lovers it’s Stockholm syndrome you identify with your captures.

Saban’s statement is on target, if LSU would promote someone to OC like Saban is about to do LSU fans would lose it. LOL
bullshite, they'd go right back to it at the first hint of adversity in any sport. This is a pattern that is not relegated to Ed Orgeron's handling of the OC position.

I think he means “lose it” as in “lose their shite”, “raise hell”, “throw a fit.”
But I do agree with you, if the perfect decision was made some fans would just move on to the next thing freak about out

Example: People on the Rant losing their shite when the BB team losing by 1 to UGA forgetting they were predicted to finish last, but in true LSU fan fashion no one reasonably recognizes this they just declare they are "over basketball".

I did a Google search and it mentioned LSU fans who hang out on The Rant.

I think it's waking up every morning with that same throw up in your mouth feeling arising when you found out LSU hired a 10-25 coach to run the football program.

It's something people have who expect disaster at all times, probably based on their personal failures.

If you are positive and expecting a positive outcome, you WAIT (key word) until something happens to judge it.
If you are negative and expect the negative, you are consumed with looking for things that can prove you right.
..no WAIT here

quote:I didn't read through the thread so this may have already been mentioned but Saban described LSU fans as having Catastrophe Syndrome in his first season at LSU.
Saban recently accused our fan base as having this.
He said he had never seen a team's fans give up and lose all hope at the first sign of a problem or setback.
He labeled it "Catastrophe Syndrome."

It is the natural condition of Louisiana residents. They always expect thing to go wrong because there it always does go wrong.
Politics, education, infrastructure, rampant crime, sports teams, health, Rant threads, etc.

Sad but true. A conditioned inferiority complex

Hmm well I don’t think it’s odd for fans to be unhappy and highly doubtful about the direction of the program:
LSU hasn’t won the division for 6 years in a row. In fact 2nd best team in the division isn’t even clear.
LSU hires a proven loser to replace miles and got similar results at the of the Miles era. Everyone was tired of that already.
Orgeron hires and fires the most highly paid OC in one year. He also meddles when he says he will let his coaches coach.
LSU conducts basically no search for OC replacement.
Other major sec programs just upgraded their coaching staffs with solid hires.
Alexander and alleva still calllin the shots at LSU. Almost all fans agree this is no good.

Well, there's a fine line between a catastrophe syndrome and pessimistic realism. Take this past Saints game. Saints are driving for the winning score, it wouldn't have been unrealistic for a Vikes fan to get the feeling the Saints were on their way to score, take the lead and win the game. That's not a catastrophe syndrome, it just being pessimistically realistic. Even though a miracle took place and the Vikes won the game anyway, in the same situation 99 times out of a 100, the Saints would have won. A catastrophe syndrome would be if a Saints fan said, even after the Saints took the lead, oh, it's the Saints, they will lose anyway. Percentage wise they would be wrong, even though the Saints did lose. It's all relative to the individuals perspective, really. But, there's a lot of people who just can't be optimistic and will always expect the worst to happen.

When you hire Ed Orgeron as head coach is not catastrophe syndrome, thats reality syndrome.
