What if it was TCU is this exact spot as Florida State is and was undefeated

Power 5 conference champion?
Would anyone say the same thing they are saying about FSU.
Undefeated power 5 deserves to be in. Everyone knows TCU would get rocked
but at what point do you draw the line and use the eye test?
So is it just because it is FSU and name or is it because they are 13-0?
Insert TCU with FSU and are people making the same argument about undefeated power 5?

I don't think so. Just my opinion.
I think name carries a big weight around CFB.

You’re right, the media does rely a lot on name. Which is why so many people are calling for Bama, UGA, or an SEC team to be in the playoffs

Do we?
Like someone mentioned in another thread where TCU came up, TCU actually won its semifinal vs Michigan last year.

TCU beat Michigan. So they deserved to go and proved it on the field

Honestly, this is more to do with hate for Bama. I'm an LSU fan 1st and SEC fan 2nd. I watch teams from every conference every week. There's no way in hell anyone actually watching FSU thinks they're better than Bama. FSU would get boat-raced in the playoffs.
Like I said, many on here want Bama out at all costs, even at the expense of the SEC champ being left out of the playoffs.
I'm sure Washington, Michigan, and even Texas is louder than anyone with wanting the SEC champ kept out. That's the only way they have a legit chance at winning it all. Bama would be favored against EVERY team in the playoffs!

Yes. Undefeated Power 5 champion should get in over a 1-loss champion.
Schedule should only come into play when the W/L records are identical.
This should have nothing to do with blue blood status, name recognition, who's hurt, etc.
If you are in a P5 conference and you go undefeated, then you should be considered an automatic qualifier.
The only real discussion shouldn't be FSU or Bama. It should be Texas or Bama. Identical records. Both P5 champs. Who do you take?
Since they played each other, you take the team that won the head to head. In this case, Texas is in. Bama is out.

Everyone knows TCU would get rocked

Difference is that TCU starting QB was still starting.

LSU would be favored against FSU right now. Should we be in the playoffs over them?

Going undefeated and winning a P5 Conference is better than having one loss and winning a P5 Conference.
Do I hate Bama? Yes.
Do I want them left out? Yes.
Do they deserve to be left out? Yes.
Under Saban, Bama has repeatedly lost the most consequential game on their schedule (2011, 2017 come to mind), yet the media and selection committees repeatedly give them a pass because of who their coach is and what they’ve done in the past. Well, why does no one else (other than Ohio State) get that type of consideration? I’m tired of Bama getting a pass when they lose what turns out to be the most important game on their schedule. Time to be just like everyone else. If they had beaten Texas at home, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Yes. And, as you will recall TCU got smoked in a terrible game.

Yes but beat the Big 10 champ to get there.

Even if the 1 loss is from a team that is better than anyone the undefeated team played? Bama and Texas both loss to teams that are better than ANYONE on FSU’s schedule. So the SEC teams are being punished by playing a tougher schedule.
Here’s a question. If FSU played Georgia and Texas, would they still be undefeated?
To be clear, I think FSU gets in. But these blanket declarations saying undefeated equals better than playing a tough schedule is not right

Oregon was a 10 point favorite over Washington. What did the vegas line prove?
Alabama was a touchdown dog to Georgia.

TCU won their semifinal game

No disrespect, but that probably said more about the Big 10 champ than TCU.

You people should remember some history beyond last year. This actually HAPPENED the TCU in 2014. They were 11-1 and won their conference championship. And then they were left out of the playoff for Ohio St.
